E63/M6 encounter
Just had an ecounter with a black M6 (six speed manual) and I tell you guys, it is faster then E63by nice margin, he pulled one+ car lengths on me all the way to around 150 mph. (all runs were from around 80mph or so).
After a few runs we stopped and talked, really nice guy. We had another set of runs on the way back with the same results.
Anyway just wanted to share the story.

Is the M6 really that fast? I was always under the impression that it was slower than the M5, and I always thought that the M5 was a very close contender with the E55/63. I guess I was way off.

These guys were racing from 80 to 150 which is the M cars strongest area. Why didn't you race from a dig?

My personal experience gives the M6 the slight nod over the M5 on the top-end.

from a standstill is the way!
There was only one M5/6 that was faster then mine at our last track rental. He was pretty well modified&running on drag radials...he killed me by a whopping 0.10sec...The other modded M6 ran a best of 12.34.Matter of fact,I think ALL the M cars had some Dinan mods done to them&none were stock. They did trap a lil bit higher in the 118mph range though

Fortunately in MY real world almost all races are not from a dig. They are almost always freeway runs and its never really fair cause most of the cars take off first and then I have to track them down. If the cars are closely matched, the launch or take off time will easily decide the winner IMO.
My old E55 (traps over 120 mph) and was racing a modded CL65 from a roll (40 to 150) and the 65 won each time but not by too much. When it came to a dig race, the 55 took the lead early and because it launches better than the 65 it (the 65) didnt even catch up until close to 140 mph.

I will never forget the vid clips CylinderHead posted of him racing Sunny55's Kleeman K5(?) SL55 from a pretty fast roll on the hiway.CH walked out on the 55 damn hard all but once.
You have to give credit where credit is due, those cars have much respect from me even though I'm not too fond of their styling;they sound simply amazing&are damn quick.Too bad most of the owners badmouth AMG's

FAST 63? I remember my SL55/2004 did a lot better, also I thought that E63 should be faster then SL55 -- go figure. Anyway, I expected M6 to pull on me, but was surprised how strong the M6 really was. Very nice car indeed.

It would be nice to find out if the CLK Black Series headers that VRP made would wrk on your car as well.
When all was said and done that CLK BS with exh, filters and SW pulled 500whp, I'd call up "VRP".
One question? Was the M6 Stck? Not for nothing but they do run strong stck as well.

Sounds like it's time for you to see "VRP" Albert about an ECU upgrade.

Love the E63 too though, stealth at its best. Had one pull apart my E46 in Van Nuys not so long back

Do you push your 63 ? All 63 's and 55's need a chance for the ECU to adapt to the situation. If you are racing a M from a high speed roll you have a couple problems.
1. M6 is at least 200 lbs lighter
2. M6 has broader power band
3. Rolling takes away your TQ advantage
4. M6 can stay in 3rd or 4th longer
Key is to stay in one gear and start at 4500-going to 7200 then let off
The 7g is slower than the SMG and you will lose ground on every shift.
Here is my car on the dyno, you can see why 80 mph is a bad spot, car shifts and you lose...
Im fairly certain the M cars are faster when rolling and our cars are superior from a dig to about 140

Makes sense, I noticed every time my cars shifts the M6 would gain on me and then pull. Also I have a pano roof and I heard that it adds another 100-150lbs. So basically M6 has not only a significant weight advantage (3909 lb vs Curb weight ~4,200 with pano) but also a broader power band.
In affect that means E63 vs M6 from a roll ---> M6 will always win.
