West Meets East Official Track discussion

Who would be interested in a Mercedes Benz USA meet Either at ATCO or MIR or another incredible track located at SEA LEVEL and able to have 50 degree weather???

I know this is early but the sooner we start discussing the cooler this event will be all input and ideas discussed here. I know there are many Western based Benz owners that have never experienced "good" track conditions and would love a crack at the best Eastern based cars, same track same day, lotsa fun. Since this will require planning and cost a bit of coin I thought it necessary to begin the thread now.

THANKS

Yeah, but you can't beat -2100 DA

I'm actually down with either one, but prefer ATCO a little more

Atco most likely will be less expensive as it's facilities are not anywhere near as nice as MIR's.But it's THE fastest track around.

I have plenty of extra room at the house so a few of you could shack up at my place, and also have garage space for 4 cars

How skeered are you Josh if I throw in the VR530 kit along with some D/R's?

And so it begins.....

Comon guys we can do this

Maybe the East Coast guys wanna come to Cali and run @ Sac, Infineon, or Famoso??? or Firebirdie.. or Speedworld. All ideas discussed. Everyone agree Atco is best?? seems like we have a couple tracks at less than 100 feet to choose from.

Bottom line is we all need to GET IT TOGETHER!!!!!!!

Why don't all of you east coast and west coast guys meet half way, here in Chicago or St.Louis ,you know, neuteral ground. We've got RT 66 Raceway (NHRA Drag Strip) and about 5 miles from there is the Autobahn road course, or we could do St. Louis and rent out Gateway, there's a NHRA dragstrip, a 1 mile (I think) oval and intergrated road course. Just a thought...would cut one of the coastal groups commute in half.

Sounds like a good idea..

Are you goingto attend the Private rental on 04/12/08?

I think the elevation is the problem in the mid west but definately an alternative.

I will do some looking for mid-west or central US tracks that have low elevation to aleviate the "coastal advantage"

Samoa in California is at 10 ft as is Infineon , englishtown , atco, mir, (80-90) Houston is 10 ft but it seems HOT all the time

Us41 is not too bad, similar to Famoso here in Cali. I will go wherever consensus arrives..

I believe Route 66 is about 500 ft and Gateway is under 300 ft. That is not very high. We also have within an 1 1/2 hours of Chicago 3 other drag strips, Byron (IL), US 41 (IN) and Great Lakes Drag Way (WI). Another spot in the Mid West is IRP (Indianapolis) about 3 hours from Chicago.

Definately a fun Town CHICAGO has some good eats too.

Definately consider it .

anything under 1000 ft I suppose is fine, plus we would all be on the same track so maybe it really does not matter that much where we choose, as long as it is well prepped. WOOOHOOO comon guys throw out some ideas on dates as well

I would recomend doing it before Late June or after Labor Day. Once we get into out "Summer" it is too hot and humid, all you poor souls with 55's or 65's will be wishing you had 63's. Some of our 100 degree 97% humidity days in July can make Death Valley feel comfortable LOL! I'm not kidding either, it can be brutal here in the summer.

It's on now!
The 2 fastest/quickest stock E63's against the 2 fastest/quickest not-so-stock 030 63's of MB_Forever&Juicee63

When the left coast wakes up this should be a nice Goodmornin to 'em

Hmmm,maybe Dragtimes.com should do a write-up on the 1st 63 into the 11's???

Hey Juicee63,
Are you guys thinking of driving cross country? I think Horseless Carriage can deliver your cars. I would call and get a group buy "quote" and see if it is worth it.

http://www.horselesscarriage.com/

Spy shot on loading day, you can see here someone has OVER MODDED the 63 for the east coast showdown.

For those of you who do not know, I own a pretty good size trucking company headquartered in Chicago. I operate 75 trucks out of Chicago, Dallas and soon a few more out of Atlanta in the very near future. After my recent shipping ordeals trying to get my car out to Evosport I realized the current transporter market out their really sucks. The carrier I used to ship out to california was 3 days late picking my car up and once they got it it took nearly 2 weeks to get it into Evosports hands. When returing the car I went with Reliable carriers, they arrived a day early (better than late I guess), but with a trailer with ramps not a lift like I specified so they had to send in another truck with a lift because they thought I was exagerating about how low my car is.

To make a long story short I am most likely adding 4-6 enclosed, lift-gate, air ride featherlite auto transporters to my fleet. If you guys are serious let me know, I will blow away anyone elses prices for you guys.

Nice!!!

I am all for this, but I am always iffy as I own a smaller business with me being main product (voiceover/audio production).

I shut down for the day and I lose that income so I really gotta pick and choose days off.

For this, I really wanna give it the ole college try!!!

Hey, you are from Salt Lake City? Have you run at Miller yet? God, I would love to spend an afternoon on that track.

Hmmm...... I don't know........ I think the east coast will have a reality shock.....

My 12.26 (1.88 60' time) run corrects to 11.83 at a DA of -2000 ft, and Juicee's run corrects to low 11.80s as well

With ATCO's better track prep, my car should be able to pull 1.82 60' time and a sub 11.9 second pass

LOL..... as long as the east coast is okay with letting their record be destroyed, I'm okay with it My 12.24 was with me driving by the way

No, but seriously...... as much as I want him to come, he's been telling me he won't be able to make it. Believe it or not his 60' times are not great. On every run, he ranged from 1.93 to 2.05 60' time

However, the person I wish can come is Shawn. He has great feel for any car. He is about 190 to 200 lbs, but he is the most consistent 60' time driver I've ever seen. He pulls 1.60 to 1.70 consistently in his E55 w/drag radials even on sh*ty track preps. Also, he ran my car 3 times on two different tracks (and he had never driven an E63 before by the way) yet on all 3 runs, he was able to go sub 1.9 60' time (to be exact, he pulled a 1.88, 1.87, and 1.88). At ATCO, I'm very confident he'll be able to complete the shock with a 1.75 60' time

, actually my fastest run 12.24 run was
