Kompressor bearing went out.... HELP!!
My friends charger bearing went out. Mercedes said they can replace the bearing, belt, and pulley for $1200 including labor. Not sure if there are alternatives out there or not. Also is there something he can get to improve performance instead if just the stock one? Please any input would be great. Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks,
Ty

Still on the original bearing here. $1,200 to repair sounds like a pretty reasonable deal in the context of what other AMG repairs cost.
The most cost effective way to get more power out of an AMG supercharger is to add a larger crankshaft pulley.
In terms of alternative superchargers, your buddy could check out Renntech or Kleemann. They might have a supercharger that makes more boost than AMG's BUT they mostly sell versions with less boost that run on higher compression engines.
Good luck!

I'f memory serves, there was recently a DIY post for a bearing replacement on this forum. Also, I believe the C32 guys have this down to a science so you might want to ping that board.

if you don't have warranty..
remove the bearig from the clutch and look for the part number. (any local mechanic can help you)
find your part at houstingbearings.com
it should be around $20.
obviously if you can get the part number of the bearing without removing it, would be ideal.
our compressor clutch system is like an air conditioning compressor... so mechanics (seasoned) should be able to take the clutch apart in no time.
if you have questions about getting a OEM part made by NGK. Send an email to Brandon at Code3 (search button)

To answer the performance part, not many have played with them much, YET. We've had our fair share of discussions regarding the size, but only recently have a group of these guys started to methodically tear the motors down and rebuild them. I'd bet that an SC clutch replacement would be a nice product, considering how crappy ours is.
