....not sure what that guy had in there, but he pulled me like i was in a yugo from a dig and a 20 punch. Off the line it was pretty even, but once he grabbed 2nd and the RPM's wound out he left me like i was sitting still-worst beating ive had. That thing was nice.......looked like this.....

It had to be a 427 or big block...

96 and 08 911 turbos
not necessarily. A well prepped small block could easily hand an e55 its ***.

The car only weighs like 2200lbs. that 1800lbs makes it easy to go fast on not that much power.

A decent 347 making 400rwhp would have done you in easily.

yea, i was about to edit my post and say it coulda been a well worked small block too, but then saw your post and didnt. Makes me want to get one and put a nice turbo setup on it. Get a nice 600hp in that thing and it would scream and be a helluva ride to have fun in.

Meh, it isn't like the E55 was derived from a race car or anything. Turn your CD player on, crank up the AC, and cruise around in your 500hp sedan, no embarrassment necessary!

That V12TT motor on eBay would be interesting fit in a AC ... but its just too much torque for the weight you would be burning rubber all day... or ?

An overweight car with more power, while the engineering can be impressive, is never a true substitute for something that weighs 2500lbs...

Never be embarrassed by being smoked by an AC Cobra. Many people have. The 427's can be extremely fast vehicles. Very raw, but awesome nonetheless. A true muscle car icon. Not much in turns but a rocket off the line. They always bring a smile to my face when I hear the the rumble and growl of the 427.

Just look @ a Lotus Elise 240 (2077lbs curb weight) with a 0-60 of 4.0s. You have a good driver behind the wheel, they could probably take us off the line...1/4 mile would be a different can of worms.

However, the Elise is a shoebox with very little creature comfort relative to a W211 AMG (also compared to that Shelby).

I happen to have 2 of them in my 1971 38' Chris-Craft Roamer...and yes, they do give quite a concert when you fire those suckers up at the dock...

I've got a Factory 5 Cobra replica with a built 347,(473 hp), and it will absolutely annahilate my E55. It's not even close.

I have NEVER lost a stop light race in the Cobra.

Dont feel dissapointed.. It's all power-to-weight.. Those Cobras were very fast especially if it was a real one with the 427 in it.

And, those Cobra's are even faster with a built SMALL BLOCK!

I know doesn't sound possible, but if you check the times for an original 427 Cobra against a modern day replica with a small block, the small block is sometimes faster.

Better weight distribution, better tires, 5-spd's instead of four, close to same horsepower.

yes they are stupid fast just as long as you are going straight and don't need to stop. unfortunately alot of people dont' get the upgraded brakes in them so the pedal is like pushing on a rock. 2 friends have them and one of them is pushing 550hp - lays a patch sideways through gears 1-3. Unfortunately on a hot day that car is like a sauna!

I would not go against something like that... All that car is made to do is "GO FAST"
