Question about oil

When I was driving my car a malfunction came up saying "check engine oil". It dosent say my car is due for service C for another 7k or so miles. Does this mean the car needs a oil change now or is it just low on oil? I tryed checking the oil level but there is no dip stick rod just a cap I also tryed checking it through the menu but it just brought it to the malfunction. Car is a 03 with 21k miles.

check the level via the dash menu after the car has been off and stable for a while. If it still faults...off to the dealer.

Don't need to panic, your car is just low on oil and need a regular maintainance oil change. I go to a local KwikKar service (equivalent to Jiffy) for a Synthetic oil change for $86. They reset service A for another 10K miles. Do this every 5000miles. Need not go to a dealer for service A cost $400-$500.

I think if it was low in oil it would say so. I think its something else - ? sensor malfunction.

+1

And you don't have to worry about the stupid dealer resetting your ECU that you paid $2k to have re-mapped, or breaking 27 other things while they're messing with your car.

AND, as long as you pay their minimum fee (usually $25 or $50), those independent oil shops are willing to put in whatever oil you want without arguing with you, be it penrite, royal purple, Amsoil, or whatever your preference is without the "we will not use non-MBUSA approved products" speech. You can even bring your own.

So just buy new engine and cabin filters from autohausaz.com and put them in at around the same time (EAAAAASY job if you do it yourself, or the jiffy-lube will do it for you for next to no money), and make sure the oil-change shop changes the oil filter at the same time, and you will have a complete service A for like $90.

Dealers f'in SUCK. Read what they did to me: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...526&highlight=

You still need the drain plugs 2, jiffy lube has no idea that the plugs are one time use only, and the filter is special too.
$86 oil change on an E55 thats funny. The parts alone are $78 then the oil and labor on top, means If you pay less than $150 for an oil change a short cut was taken on your $40,000.00 engine.

+1. Not saying the dealer is the only way to go, but Jippy lube is the LAST place I'd get an oil change in an AMG.

Add a cup or two of oil and see. Don't add too much at once or you'll have to drain it.
