E63 vs SRT8 Charger

Just had a run with a back SRT8 Charger (looked new so most likely 2008 model). The guy had non-stock exhaust and (not sure what else). Anyway, I was amazed at how fast these cars are. I mean my E63 was pulling away but just a little bit, the SRT8 was able to hang on no problem all the way up. I was only 1/2 car lengths ahead. We had 2 runs both with the same result, rolling from around 60/70mph.

Just checked out the specs on the SRT8 and it around 425hp, 420ft/lb torque, but is not enough to hang on to the E63? or is it? maybe my car is too slow

Albert.

Check the weight on both cars. Power to weight ratio should be the key to your question.

not sure, may be is was modded beyond exhaust, who knows. I know for sure that my E63 aint that slow (based on the runs I had with vettes and M6 before), so it must be that this car was modded.

I have raced sevral Srt8 and modded ones

stock they have no chance at third gear its bye bye (they were most likly modded)
modded they have a crazy launch but again on third gear i pull them hard..then they slam on the brakes
capriss SS is alos scarier when modded properly
all in all 55 advantage so far

SRT8s shine in a rolling start of 60+...From a dig you would probably have squashed him...especially in an E55.

I meant cam,exhaust,after-market heads,etc.They're pretty reasonable&can add 100+hp fairly simply
Shoulda been more detailed on my statement

I am not surprised. I ran a SRT-8 300C (buddies) from 60. He got the jump as I tried to manually put the E in 2nd gear. Net is that at about 125 I was still behind him (he cut a lane over on me) but I was reeling him in.

He was stock other than a Bently grill and aftermarket rims.

Once rolling, they run nice.

any car you give .5 second hesitation will take longer to reel them back in.

13.2 car vs 12.5 car is not a wide margin.

trap speeds around 108 for the SRT8 and 113 to 116 for the 63's on average..

except the few around here that are higher than 116..

again.. if you wait a few seconds to pull the trigger.. don't even waste your gas.. its going to take well in to the 3 digits to pass.

sounds like the MOPAR was modded and probably around 475hp or so to keep up with you.

There is no way a stock SRT8 can hang with the 63? I know of at least 2 stock SRT8 than join us in almost every event here in California, and they always run 0.6 to 0.8 seconds slower than my car or Juicee's car. Last time at Famoso, my car ran 12.35 @ 114 while the stock SRT8s were running 13.2 @ 111

Weird, I ran my E55 wagon against one from a dig and crushed him.....HARD..he obviously let up in 3rd or 4th at no joke---multiple bus lengths back

I also ran one of the SRT8 wagons (only about 0-80) and killed him too.

Good point. That is why we all need 700hp under our hoods.
