i understand ur point, but at the same time you have to think maybe someone has some information about him or has recently seen him. if the thread is locked, someone with information might not be able to spread the word in time.
Yeah, I guess. I was subscribed, but got tired of the "I just read through the WHOLE thing, send that guy to the gallows". If they have something good to contribute I don't mind, guess I just shouldn't let it get to me.
I am not so sure....anymore. Hey buds, checking in from HybridZ.org Good detective work fellas! Keep the internet clean. Especially the car side of things.

No joke, I know what Billy Smith's been up to. Scamming on ebay. My husband and I have been with ebay for 10 yrs with 1029 positive feedbacks. More buying than selling. On July 22nd a newly registered buyer bossdon617 did a BIN for our $1500 Canon Camera lens. Figured it would be ok, we got the money through PayPal. Took the lens to the UPS store for them to box up so it would arrive safely. It was sent to Billy Smith 1338 Blue Hill Ave Boston, Ma 02126. It was actually delivered to Mattapan, Ma and signed for by Smith. We have never had any contact with him except for his payment. Aug. 9th a Fedex package was delivered to our home from a post office box in Randolph, Ma. It contained soap. The same day he became unregistered on ebay. The next morning we received an email from PayPal telling us our buyer had filed a SNAD claim saying we had sent him a totally different item, a kit lens. A kit lens is a starter lens that comes with an entry level camera. We sent him a Canon EF24/1.4L ll lens. The body number is 1727590. They also took the $1500 from our account. I decided to do an internet search on Billy Smith Mattapan and it brought me to this forum. I was pretty stunned at what I was reading. I printed our the short version from the JEE-RHAL site. After a month of 'investigating" PayPal told him to return the lens for a refund. He just had to show them he had proof of tracking. He gave them the tracking from the crap he had sent us in Aug. I faxed PayPal the info from here and lots of emails. A week later they found in our favor and returned our money. But it's not over yet. On Sept. 29th Billy Smith filed a fraudulent charge back with his credit card company. That nightmare is just beginning.

I had just found this thread and am sorry to hear of all your troubles (that goes for everyone!). Blue Hill Ave is famous and there was a movie made of life in that area of Boston. Mattapan-Square is where that road crosses from Milton (a relatively wealthy suburb of Boston) crosses into Boston. Mattapan borders Dorchester and Roxbury, neither a place anyone (including residents) want to be very long at night. Think of it as you would South Side, Compton or other such place often mentioned in rap-songs associated with "thug life" and drugs. What I do with Paypal (because I got scammed before too) is once money hits your account, immediately move it to your Bank account. You have to register with Paypal and link your CC and all, but once done, immediately move funds from Paypal into a bank account and unlink the accounts. That way, when they do a charge back to anyone, they cannot come after YOUR money. Instead, they lose theirs. Better theirs, than yours tho. Apparently, the reason is legal: Paypal is not a bank nor credit union. They have no legal right to pursue, or something to that effect.

Thank you for your post ... You just saved me from potentially being scammed. Likely the same scam as above. Billy is now using an ebay user ID of monent774.

Ugh. This has me a little concerned as I just shipped wheels to a newbie on this site. Not saying there is anything wrong, but it's got me a little petrified now.
