weird after all the detective work by membership from accross the interwebs.

One positive thing did come out of this as far as I can tell. Anyone selling wheels now has to take a picture of themself holding today's newspaper, sitting in their MB's trunk with the rims. Giving "the bird" is optional.

Nothing ever seems to happen on any of these types of scam or any other internet crime. We have had a person from the New York area order parts from us with a stolen credit card and in a similar stunt as here we found out his identity and have even talked to his employer. The local authorities did not even want to look at the case as they did not want to work on a case that involved people in two states. Earlier in the year the thief tried to sell the car on one of the BMW forums. I am not amazed credit card and internet crime is running wild as there seems to be no recourse by the victims.

I've sold rims on here before to another member but i'm pretty positive he checked me out (reviewed every single post I made) as he paid by paypal before I even shipped out the 1k Rims. I want to sell my Front tires (just ordered new rubber this AM). They should be in by thursday. i will take a picture of the new tires on the car the old ones which are 245/40/18 stock Conti's w 50% + tread. Actually anyone who has a good thought on Yokohama S-drive tires please let me know.. from what i hear the Value/performance is well worth it.
I like the previous idea of taking a picture of yourself w/ the products so buyers have some sort of proof you own it. Just PM that picture to the buyer..
I haven't even thought of a price yet as they are on the car. Let me know if you are interested.. include the cost to ship. PM me and i will give you my cell. I live right outside of DC in Montgomery County MD.
I will post this on the Wheels and tire section once they are off w pics. thx Brian

I also read this entire thread and am very disappointed on how its concluding - but hey, at least it lets you know you cannot scam MBworld, not without having a community uprising on your ***!
Just wanted to say great job to all of you who investigated and put the time and effort to make sure things like this don't happen, it's expensive being a MB enthusiast as is, getting scammed out of cold hard earned cash just makes it more difficult!

Why pay 20, 30 and even 40% more to get the same product from some greedy dealership?
I ordered a relay from an online store for $17 including shipping to fix my power seats, dealership wanted $56 before taxes - I would think before calling the customer 'cheap'
