Upgraded Software for E63 Transmission
Love the engine in my E63, and like the mechanical aspects of the transmission (gear ratios), but HATE the software. Shifts are real slow, only shifts when it is good and ready (especially on downshifts), real hard to get it into first when creeping to a stop in manual mode.
Have had MB put in the latest upgrades, but it performs no better.
Has anyone done aftermarket software that fixes this slow behavior? (Or does anyone know if the limiting factor is in fact a mechanical aspect of the transmission?).
Thanks

Sounds like you need to do a Sneaky ECU reset. I think thats what they call it...look it up ...will reset your ttranny to relearn your driving style. Should give you back that 1-2 chrip. I get 1-2-3 chrip with my ECU tune and a sneak ECU reset.

I think he's saying that the shifts are very slow whether the car chirps or not. He's mainly talking about downshifts. Unfortunately, the AMG transmissions are very slow. In a time when almost every high performance car have an advanced transmission, Mercedes still stuck by their original tranny, which I think shifts at around 300 ms. Here are some examples of how fast other transmissions are doing.....
Bugatti Veyron (Direct Shift Gearbox): 8 ms
Ferrari F430 Scuderia: 60 ms
BMW M5 E60 (and M3) with SMG II/III: 80 ms
Ferrari FXX: Under 100 ms (claimed to be 60 to 80 ms but unverified)
Ferrari 360: 150 ms
Ferrari Enzo: 150 ms
Audi TT Quattro 3.2 (Direct Shift): 200 ms
Ferrari 575M: 220 ms
BMW M3 E36 with SMG I: 220 ms
Aston Martin Vanquish: 250 ms
The average manual car driver: 500 ms
Even the new MCT transmission in the SL63 can only shift as fast as 100 ms, which doesn't even beat the 3 year old SMGII and SMGIII by BMW. There are rumors that BMW's DSC shifts as fast as 50 ms, but we won't know for sure until they start selling a lot more of them.

I think may be he doesnt mean the actual shift time but how hard he has to press the gas pedal before it will down shift.
I remember mine used to downshft right when i give some gas. but right now....I almost have to floor the thing to get it to downshift. I miss how it drives when it first updated the software, the stealth reset wont work on E63.

Just pull the left lever when you want to downshift, all the way down to 1, no problem. If you do it too much you save your brakes (and dust on your wheels) but ruin the tires, take your pick.
I found the sneaky reset doesn't work, either.

Hey Rob, are you sure the re-set works just like it did on the E55 and it's not just your car adapting to each aggressive run? The reason I mention that is because I know how it feels when the ECU is re-set. When I used to do it on my C32 and my friend's E55, I could feel a noticeable and unmistakable difference. But on the E63, the difference is just not clear enough. I also tried it on Juicee's CLS63 and another E63 and got the same thing
