I for one am PUMPED!! AMG being put in a corner now.

Course 6$ a gallon (coming soon) gas trumps everything so not really sure anymore what the future holds.

If the Z06 gets 30mpg highway then I'd expect this thing to do just as well at cruise. Either way Caddy just beat AMG and ///M.

well of course..one is American and the other are Germans

If I wanted American I could have bought an Srt Jeep and saved over $70,000 instead of getting G55!

There is definitely something special about Amg and M cars that are worth the extra cost

not that much more. and consideing the performance. the caddy is very well made. that why you drive a amg which is a very find car. i drive the cts-v which in it's own right is a good car. it's all good.

absoultely beautiful car. I hear that those numbers are also fairly conservative like with our e55's. However, I would much rather have my e55 with a pulley/tune than the CTS.

I love AMG and M cars but a TRUE car guy would appreciate the New V. 556 hp has to be right down everyone's alley on this forum.

I plan on getting the new V after the first year of production and then after a few years I will end up replacing the V for the new AMG car. That is the typical cycle of a man obsessed with power!!

According to this article, it is 3.5 seconds

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/09/2...56-horsepower/

Not really when compared to Cadillac's news that the 2009 CTS-V will officially be rated at 556 horsepower, hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12 seconds flat.

I was considering an AMG car next, but I think I'm back to Caddy again

Indeed. I have no particular allegiance to any one car maker/brand - I just love cars - especially fast ones. This will set the bar, for the moment!

"something special" huh.. if you wanna be a badge wh0re and pay $40k extra for the nameplate, go right ahead. there are many reasons why ppl buy highend cars, macho factor, showing off, panty droppage factor, joy of driving, whatever - but as far as performance is concerned, this CTS-V has it down and then some.

for you to diss on this car just b/c it's made in the USA without even driving one is silly. i'm no caddy nutswinger but i'm willing to give credit to where it's due

this car will put caddy in the spot light for a while. just look at the standard cts and you will see where caddy is going with this car. it will have the looks, a great interior, and performance as well. the problem is that caddy may have waited a little too late. with cheney trying to start a war and world consumption going through the roof caddy may not be able to sale as many as they would like. premium will be over 6 bucks a gallon and diesel at 7 bucks so it will be interesting to see how things change. the best thing to do right now is not have a car payment at all. until the dummy's that we elected can figure out a real solution to the fuel crisis.

back to the point, I think this caddy will be bad *** and bmw and merc will have to really step up their game if they want to keep their market share. thumbing your nose while reading a back license plate still makes you a loser. there's a new shark coming to the waters and it's wearing a caddy badge.

well i found out that the c6zo6 is nothing more that a upgrade for the c6. amg may have the supercharger but you could get the amg wheels package on the e550 . or new 63. some people put performance ahead of a badge

The last V felt cheap like all American cars, so I wonder if they will change that. There's nothing like German cars

Even more interesting will be the aftermarket options for this car. How easily will tuners be able to up the boost and tune the car to the 620 HP that the LS9 motor was originally spec’d for?
WOW!!! A quick tune to 620 would be incredible.

Amen to that!

I would seriously consider the V after the E63 - especially if when April '10 rolls around (end of lease of the E63) and the new AMG W212 is either not yet out or just released (worried about first model year releases).

That's what's great about a competitive consumer market isn't it? The choices! And since I lease, having fun with the V packing 556 bhp for 24-36 months wouldn't be out of the question - and I am the first to admit I am no fan of domestic marques or Cadillac in particular, given that most of the Caddies I see here in northern NJ and metro NY are Escalades.

So be open minded! Any car can be a cool/neat/fun/crazy car regardless of the badge - it's the engineering and passion instilled in these vehicles that come alive when the throttle pedal meets the carpet that count!

Yeah - you beat me to it. Calling the first-gen CTS-V cheap, and driving a Sentra. Doesn't add up, at least to me
