My Custom Stealth Valentine One Radar Install
My original mirror now has all V1 controls built inside but all functions of the unit still operate: Home link, Map lights Auto Dim and SOS. The V1 display is etched into the mirror and works great.
The detection unit is mounted in a modified rear speaker grill with a molded V1 pod built in and covered in matching fabric with V1 unit mounted. The site line is perfect for front and rear detection.

The rest of the pictures are below but note the control *** on the mirrors bottom:

I'm still waiting to find time to do the install. The work they did was very good and they were quick. On the older mirrors (like mine) there is less room inside. Because of this I elected to have the homelink removed since I don't use it anyway. Eurotek said they could have kept the homelink but it would have required cutting and bondo and more hours of work. All in all I am very pleased with the job they did.
Sorry in advance if thats a dumb question.
If you're smart enough to turn it off if you're pulled over you can play dumb and deny all knowledge.
They can't search your car without a warrant or 'reasonable suspicion' of a crime - like drugs etc. (in Oz)Of course they could give you a really hard time and give you're a vehicle defect notice so that the transport department get to do an inspection.

The other one is the Spectre RDD first used in Canada and apparently it was designed specifically to detect the latest state of the art stealth-type radar warning receivers. I am not sure if it picks up V1 but the people that make the Valentine One warn that their detector may not be shielded from this new RDD.

The only thing I would do differently is to put the etching on the other side of the mirror. The guys who do this kind of work around here (AI, Technik 1) always etch the left side of the mirror.
I would call Phil directly at Eurotek. I know the 63's glass is tough to etch but they have a solution. I think the 55/63 rear deck grill is the same.
Also, Chris is right about the display. It is not overly bright and at night when the autodimer is working the lights are very faint. A cop is not going to see them.
I must admit that I'm really not up to date on these devices. How effective are they and do you use one?
I haven't had a detector for several years and just recently decided to get one because of a couple of close calls.
My stealth V1 set up also has a jammer which has the audio/visual alarm integrated into the mirror as well. Even though they're separate boxes/companies. It will alarm even if I have the V1 unit and display "off". the mirror will still light up and I'll get the audio beep of my laser jammer.
I have not experienced any loss of sensitivity due to this set up. I run a V1 in my DD mounted on the windshield and can't tell much of a difference. Each "incident" that you get hit is different. There are times when I have so much warning it's ridiculous; other times it's a little closer.
With that said your eyes and common sense are your best defense. Any detector is just an aid and should be used as such.
