Warranty advice please...

I went to Beverly Hills MB today to ask about extended warranty options for my 06 E55. First let me say that I was extremely surprised when I heard that the same type of warranty for my brothers 06 CLS500 was about double the price!!!!!! For a 500!!!!!

I want to keep my car for a few more years and I definitely cant keep an AMG without warranty.

My car is a 2006 E55 with 32,000 miles on it

Back to my main point... The warranty would cover the normal MB warranty stuff, the only thing it wont cover is cosmetic stuff on the car. The third party warranty would be effective immediatly, it wont be put on hold until after my existing warranty ends. My current warranty ends in October 2009. The warranty I asked about was 6 years/72,000 miles. So id basically be covered until June 2014 or 105,000 miles. Whichever comes first. Its $4,600 with a $100 deductible or $4,900 with no deductible. Does that sound good to you guys? Did anyone in my situation get a better deal? Are these types of things negotiable?

Thanks a lot for any help you guys can give me.
And I'm sorry if its all jumbled up, I just typed what was going through my head.

I don't think it's a good deal. See my recent experience here.

doesn't sound like a very good deal. check with good aftermarket companies and you'll likely find out they're the same ones your dealer uses without the markup.

You don't want a deductible and at 5k it's overpriced. Should be no more than $3,500k. Negotiate, warranties are negotiable just like cars.

I have the Daimler Chrysler warranty also and spoke to my dealer about it. He says it's a good warranty and I didn't buy it through them. I'm still under the factory warranty until later this year but I purchased the Daimler Chrysler warranty about 2 months ago. I only have 5500 miles on the car so I went with the 7/50,000 top of the line warranty for $1490 with $0 deductable. Gives me 3 more years of coverage.

HI, the mistake you made was asking for a 6 year its to long, and when they go over 4 years they get exponentially more expensive..

ask what the SWEET SPOT is, its simliar to a LEASE, there are smart terms and there are leases for IDIOTS, and the IDIOTS pay so much they carry the
less exxpensive contracts that are less profitable for the company,

SO, ask what the 3 and 4 year is, I suspect you could get 2 x 3 years for cheaper than one 6 year..
besides you dont want that car till 2015, it will be a POS,,
by then we will have AIR CARS for christ sake, or hydrogen cars
that will accelerate instantly like the best electric cars under 3 secs..

hope that helps

The 6 year was only one or two thousand more than the 3 year. And I want be able to keep this car for as long as possible if I can. If not it will make it easier to sell. I cant imagine anyone wanting an AMG without a warranty.

I want to thank everybody in this thread for all of the useful info you have given me. I gave Michael Case a call and he was a very nice guy. I'm trying to see if I can get an extended warranty from the dealership (for crashing my car) and if not I'll be giving Michael a call. Thanks guys.
