2004 E55 AMG
My new ride!!

I went to the auction last week with my brother who has a used car dealers license looking for a Mazda 6 for my son and came across this beauty!! It was a lease turn in with 45,000 miles. It is a 2004 E55 AMG with pano roof. I could not find any flaws on the car except it needs a set of tires (imagine that)!! Exterior and interior are beautiful. I went to the auction on Monday to preview cars for the Thursday auction. So Thursday morning we bid and bought it right from my desk over the internet. I couldn't believe we ended up getting the car!

I cannot believe the power of these cars!! TIme to start getting ideas from you folks on where to go from here!!

I didn't even end up getting a car for my son, I have to go back this week for him!!

Nice, congrats. Consider buying an extended warranty if you can.

I have another thread going on which warranty to buy. I have quotes from Chrysler as well as Mercury. Chrysler is much cheaper!! Just looking for some input. Cant buy MB warranty being second owner and out of initial warranty.

Thanks

Bill

Good job, you are in the car right! $7-$10K under retail. A good aftermarket warranty will be $3500 and you can negotiate that price down a bit too.
Tires, I am a fan of fresh rubber so I prefer cheaper tires on a high performance car cause I change them out every 6K miles, and that is about when most 35s start to get noisy. The E55 will change your perspective take a minute to read this.

Good job!

But I'm not sure if I should be happy about that resell price....

You are going to need some OEM Xenon's ASAP. Don't even retrofit Xenon's into the Halogen housing.

Other than that you have a really great car there and bought it for a steal.

I hate you!

Enjoy the ride. The torque that monster puts out is ridiculous.....can I borrow your brothers liscense?

I'd take the E55 over the E63 any day of the week.

Bill,

I am always reluctant to recommend anything, so here is what I did. I have not had to use it yet but the one MB dealer I trust told me they pay no question.

I went with CNA National for many reasons.
1. I am not locked in to Mercedes Benz dealers.
2. They pay me directly, get quote, fax it, get check. Or they pay shop direct
3. Go to shop of my choice (Renn Tech, C2D, ect)
4. Covers much more than the Mercedes Extended warranty.
5. JD Powers rated "BEST".
The policy I got "Platinum" was $4300.00 and that covers me till 2012, 100K.
Now the bad news, I do not know if this policy can be sold to general public. Dealer inspection was done at time of sale, (12K miles and still had 2 yrs of factory coverage) and they approved my car. Only 2-3 companies will sell a warranty on an AMG. All I was really after was, to be covered for three things.
Engine $20K
Trans $12K
Airmatic $7K
In the event of a catastrophic failure $4300 is cheap, Oh and they cover the cost of rental car too.
