Anyone smoke out their lights similar to the SL55
Was wondering if anyone smoked out just the white part of their lights. I'm thinking about replicating the look of the SL55 tail lights. Any comments or photoshop attempts greatly appreciated.

i believe the sl55 taillight red is a bit darker than ours also.. i smoked mine out, looks just like it.. the red is a bit darker than our red, and the white part is a dark charcoalish color

Would you please post pics? I'm thinking about doing this, too - similar to the W210 E55's

I did this mod to my CLK55 several years ago. I used www.smokedlamps.com (no affiliation, just a satisfied customer).

I found the website cumbersome so I just ended up calling. My request was a little different - I asked for a custom mix - and wanted new/pristine tail lights to start with. He picked up new tails from a local California MB dealer and sprayed just the reverse portion of the tail lights. IIRC, the cost was near $500, including the new 4-piece tail lights...but they have a factory look which is what I wanted. Years later they are still perfect.

My cousin just did it on his E500, I will post pics when I finish mine this weekend. We bought the tint from this website http://www.rvinyl.com/wrapkits/vinyl...taillights.htm (no affiliation).
We got the smoke (dark) film, it came out almost exact to the SL55 taillights. It wasnt too dark because we only put it on the clear part of the lens. I'll ask him to post pics tonight..
