CL55 cooling system VS E55 system
Are there any differences between these two 55 systems? Air flow, intercooler size, etc etc?

Funny this came up. I was checking out a CL55 at the dealer yesterday and noticed same thing. Much bigger heat exchanger. Wonder if they get S/C shutdown problems too.

I am planning to start some heavy mods and just checking out all the heating isssues I see on the forum. The best info on this forum for the 55 motor is in the E55 section. Congrats and thanks! Be nice to have a 55 motor section , unless it is ok for us CL guys to troll on your E55 section..lol
I ran a new 2008 C6 Vette with z51 package (A6) and air intake added about 6 times. Both times we pulled the C6 the car was cool, it pulled the vette but after one run the second run would be slower and or even bog. so, I am looking at the pump right now , as I have 32,000 miles. Need to get a scanner before going further.
On my CL , I have the lower valance heat exchanger in front of the condensor (maybe 7 cores and 21"x4x1")?). I assume the same size as the E55?? I also have a full size heat exchanger/intercooler in front of the radiator but behind the AC condensor( One big sandwich). Also, one tranny cooler, one oil cooler and one small power steering cooler. The E55`s have all this too? Just trying to compare, as I have to get all my MOD info from all your hard pioneering work.

CL55 has a different exchanger, unlike E/CLS55s it is thinner, wider and taller. Fluid capacity is about the same. And it has the same problems as E/CLSs, not enough capacity for warm climates and pump failures.

The CL 55 holds 15.3 qrts of fluid. What does the E hold? For some reason even more than a CL600 V12 at 12.9 qrts.
Any ideas why the two cars would have different heat exchangers.
So both models have a radiator size exchanger (between rads) and a smaller secondary lower valance exchanger? Both lower valance exchangers the same size?
