MB phone
Forgive me - I just wanted a little information regarding connecting a phone via bluetooth through my e63. I see the connections - but do not have anything. What do I need. I have read the dealer charges $471 for the bluetooth setup - that sounds good - do I need to buy a phone as well? A special expensive MB phone - or can I use my Blackberry - which I love. Does any phone work? Thanks in advance. I do not have anything in there now.

I thought all 211 came prewired? I may be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere before. Check behind the cup holders, there's like an open space, on the back end, there should be a plastic cover over a connector thing. Just pop the plastic cover off and clip the puck into place.

07' and up 211's are prewired. You just have to buy the bluetooth "puck" from MB.
I would say that you're better off buying the "puck" from the dealership as the software is updated for the most current list of approved phones. Not all bluetooth phones are compatible. The information on compatible phones can be had here http://www.wireless4mb.com/

all 211s are pre-wired but that doesn't mean u can just buy BT puck and call it a day... u still need phone module if it didn't come with the car from factory/dealer... ur best bet is to get MHI phone kit with BT from MBenzNL or GB i'm organizing for mObridge...

You are correct. All 211's are "prewired".
I was refering to 07' and up, which all E63's are. 07' 211's and up are plug and play, whether it be bluetooth module or phone docking station.

I bought mine off Ebay and it works fine..... most of the time. A few little glitches here and there. If your car doesn't have the factory "V60" mount just buy the "Puck with the tail" and from my understanding it should work fine. You just have to go to the stealership to have a star tech turn your phone function on.

you don't need the cradle unless you're buying the MB phone.
i found my puck on ebay for $375. my blackberry 7100 works perfectly as well as my wife's curve.
also, the most recent version is the part number ending in 5878. 5839 was a previous version which will work, but had some bugs and had a shorter list of compatible phones.
