First time I've ever had the rental on a weekend and was able to talk them down from $200/car to $100/car but we need at least 40 cars. We had 34 cars yesterday and I think everyone was happy with the number of runs they got in and lines were very short if you can even call them lines. I'm thinking about starting a pot to have VHT sprayed further than the 60'!

Also, might have the next event catered if everyone thinks its a good idea and wants to pitch in since MIR is in the middle of nowhere and food is far far away! What do you guys think? If you want to pitch in for VHT just paypal me however much you want to throw in to mercedeseclass@hotmail.com It costs us 50 cents per foot and any money I receive will go towards spraying the track further than the 60'
Concerning the food catering, great idea, I'm in for a few more bucks, let me know what it's gonna cost because it looks like I am going to have 2-3 other guys with me and I want to make sure I pay for their food as well. If you are catering make it clear to attendees that you need an exact head count so you can plan accordingly and so you get paid accordingly.

As for the VHT...how much does it cost to get it sprayed down the entire 1/4? Because I was smoking my MT's through the traps at the LET event at US 41 in September...No, I'm not kidding either. I was spinning the tires through the traps at 121 + mph on a 11.60 pass...are you guys affraid yet? You Should Be!

I'm in for VHT and catering (as long as it's relatively healthy), no fast food please. I'll have one guest with me as well.

Thanks

I will try to get an accurate head count of people that are interested closer to the date in regards to catering.

VHT is free to the 60' and 50 cents per foot after that. 1/4 mile is 1320 feet. So for 1260 feet it costs $630. Times two for both lanes and thats $1260. If you guys wanna pitch in for VHT feel free to do so by paypaling some money. I promise that all the money will be spent on VHT for the track.

I would just wait on the VHT until race day and collect money at the track. I do think the weather is going to have a lot to do with it. BTW what is the weather like at MIR in mid November? Average daily temp?

That wont work. Track needs to be prepped before we can run on it, they cant add a couple feet everytime someone pitches in money.

Weather should be in the 50's or so. This week was abnormally hot but we should be back in the 60's by the end of the week.

We can't decide how much to prep in the morning before everyone makes their first pass? When we rent tracks they prep whenever we want them to. All it takes is some otherwise useless track official to hop onto a 4 wheeler and hold down a button.

No you cant. Yes they will prep it when you want them to. You want to sit around and wait for everyone to show up? Then take a vote as to how much they want to prep, wait for the track to be prepped, and then run? I dont know how they prep the track where you are from but thats not how its prepped at MIR. I had people showing up as late as 3:30PM yesterday. Would you have waited for him to show up before you decided how much to prep too? That just wont work, it doesn't even make sense to me

When we rent the track everyone that's running gets there at the designated starting hour. We decide how much we want to prep, and how often (usually we do it 2x to 3x per 8 hr rental with 50 cars or so, less if there are less cars), pretty simple really.
I explained to you how the tracks around here are prepped, a track official jumps onto a 4 wheeler with spray bar behind it and makes a few passes on each side of the track misting VHT. It takes all of 10 minutes to prep/dry, which is not a lot of time.
So how do they do it at MIR? Walk with a spray bottle?

Those that show up late have no say at our rentals.

Either way it does not matter to me, I'll Paypal some additional money tomorrow. I have to agree with Andy, at most of the private events I have attended the track prep/VHT is handled on the day of the event, sometimes it's not needed, depends on air temp, track temp and how greasy the track gets.

Thanks again Ahmad for organizing this event.

Ahmad:

Why not just go with up to 330'? 270' X $.50 = $135 I think everyone would agree that an extra $3 is no big deal. Hey, I will splurge and put down $10. Okay, now pass the $125 over the remaining 40+ participants. I think everyone is here to break records...whether they be personal bests or best in class...I would hope that $3 wouldn't be a deal breaker for an exceptional track prep.

Whatever makes it easy. I'll PP an extra $100 (better make that $104 ) for food (please please no fast food) and VHT. If the weather allows for it I'm not against doing the entire quarter mile.

you can pick up jugs of vht at jegs and summitracing, i wonder if they would let you buy it and they spray it for cheaper prices? That may allow you to spray it out a little further.

Tried that before, they never let us do it for obvious ($) reasons. Of course that's just here, can't speak for MIR.

Would there be an adverse affect on trap speeds and ETs for using too much VHT down the track?

In the past even 13 second cars have benefitted ET wise, not really sure on the traps. For the guys in the 10s it will make a significant difference.

Ahmad, Not to pile more stuff on your already overflowing plate. Just an idea, why don't you post this MIR event down in the "Events and Gatherings" section as well as some of the other AMG (CLS, CLK, S, etc.) sections of this forum. I know most of the heavy hitters frequent this W211/E Class section but not everyone might, I don't think I have ever even poked my head into the AMG CL or S Class sections of this forum and maybe some of them have never poked their heads into this section. Might be able to get a few more attendees interested. Let me know if you want my help typing some posts.

Ahmad, I'm not b1tchin, I'm trying to help get more participants to cover your expenses. I would be more than happy to type up some posts in the other sections which would inlude the PayPal info and instructing people to contact you with question. I just don't want to step on any toes in the process. Say the word and I will start typing.

I wouldn't call it adverse. The stickier the track the better your 60' times will be. The better your 60' times the lower your ET will be. Since you have little or no wheel spin there is less track to gain higher mph. So mph will be down, but you want to compare the best ET combined with MPH. Not just MPH. Usually the best passes will have a combined excellent ET and 60'.
