2004 E55 removed side badges and 2 piece AMG wheel
What do you think about this car...specifically the removal of the side badges and the wheels...I'm not sure about the wheels, thoughts on color, badge and wheels?

I'm partial to the debadged look, so I think the car in question looks really good that way. As far as the wheels, they look like good. I like the OEM SL65 rims better.

I'm thinking about buying the car but can't get the wheels to feel right in my mind...does anyone know if those wheels were an option for the 04' I see them more on S and SL class AMG cars.

Those are definitely aftermarket rims. See if they have the stock wheels if you don't "feel" the rim...I'd personally get a set of rims that you feel good looking at...just don't get chrome !

you don't think those are AMG factory wheels? definately not what I'm looking for if that's the case...also, the hood badge has been removed. I haven't seen that before, is anyone familiar with that?

The flat badge conversion is pretty common aftermarket mod...I did it. I still have the star and if you don't like the flat badge it is pretty simple to go back to stock...

hehe...yes very new :-) I know the wheels are not the original W211 e55 wheel, but what I'm trying to avoid is a replica wheel. I don't mind if it's a factory AMG wheel...although I'm not too keen on a wheel from another class but can deal with it if it looks right. I'm a BMW guy that is seriously considering buying that e55, I have to buy it from out of state and won't get a chance to see the car in person...I've done all the service homework and feel confident that the dealership is giving me the whole truth...but the wheels. if I get a replica I'll be very upset. how can i identify those wheels as OEM?

Could they be AMG Style IV 19" rims?

They did not come EOM for the 2004 E55. You may be able to get some other AMG rims from the dealer but that is still aftermarket and not OEM. These days most bigger dealerships carry aftermarket wheels AMG in house.
If you get them from the dealer, be careful of sticker shock. They are always a more expensive option than looking around at other sources.

like this:
most aftermarket - [and by aftermarket I mean that it's made by anyone other than the original manufacturer (Mercedes in this case) - and not a post original production date piece made by Mercedes themselves ] ... do not put the AMG logo on the wheel = that would be lawyer letter and infringment time...

Wheels look great and would be my second choice behind the SL65 wheels. As to the badges, I prefer them on. I personally like the back badges pulled and the side ones left in place but this is your car so you have to do what YOU like!

Those wheels look ok. I like the side badges and a stock look. You can easily pick up some new badges at MB dealer or maybe even ebay. As for color

thanks for all your input...I think I'm going to purchase the car. I got a bunch of recent photos sent to me today from the listing dealer. I can hardly wait to get behind the wheel :-)
