Buying my 8th Michelin Tire
So in 15,491 miles, I have purchased 8 PS2's. Number 8 is coming courtesy of a pot hole that managed to put a bubble in the sidewall of my right front tire this morning. Rim looks fine, but I will bring my extra OEM front wheel with me when I get the tire replaced.
I would think Michelin would just give me a tire. Or a mug or something.
Damn this is frustrating.

Damn that sucks - the joys of driving around here. I hit some bumps where I just cringe and figure "i'm screwed", but so far i've been lucky with the TT.

I had 3 sets of 4 on my E55- another set on my CL65 and a current set on my P car... best tire out there IMO. I am having good results from my Yoko Advans on the M6 though.

8 seems reasonable for 15k miles. the rears on my 996tt maybe lasted 10k miles. even my allroad which is not staggered and rotated regularly only lasted 13k miles.

I didn't get a mug or T-shirt either.
I always keep a set of the rears in the garage and buy another pair whenever I mount the new ones. That way, I don't sweat the occasional burn out or stop light contest.

I have a suggestion: Try a different tire.
PS2's (TW rating 220) were recommended for my CLS. I went against it, and got Pilot A/S (TW rating 400). 15K, and going strong with the front and rears. The rears should be able to get at least another 5-7K. The fronts look almost new.

While I do complain about the terrible tire wear, I also rave about the handling, traction and smooth quiet ride which comes at a high cost in wear.
In the interest of longer tire wear and lower price, I once had some "asian" tires mounted on my SL. Six days later I had them removed and replaced with Michelin's. There is a world of difference. I learned my lesson.

I would look into the road hazard warranty most tire retailer's offer. I've damaged all sorts of tires and paid something like $35 for a new tire each time. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Just a suggestion.

And I am also buying 4 Michelin's for my wife's GL450. You'd think that I would catch a break from Michelin somewhere.

Aaron - In hindsight, I should have bought the warranty. I am happy to have learned that the 4 Michelin's I am buying for my wife come with a free road hazzard warranty. But with a 65 profile, it would take a pretty, pretty, pretty big pothole to get pinched into a bubble.
