Mercedes Unimog Gotta Have One
Sorry for being way off topic for this section, but you guys that hang in the E Class section are the brightest bunch. I did not see anything on MB World for Unimogs. Where can I buy one of these? This is the baddest, sickest thing I have ever seen! I gotta have one

Small diesels, I believe maybe 275 hp sixes at the largest, all the way down to little 150 hp 4 cylinders.
They even make a "Black" Edition!

A few years ago I went to a four wheel drive gathering and watch a few offroaders being put through their paces.
There was a camel trophy land rover and a range rover there, with the proper knobbly off road tyres.
The landrover went into a pond and got stuck somewhere near the top of his hood, the range rover followed behind and tried to nudge him out, he also got stuck.
A unimog backed up to them and using the winches he hooked up to the landrover and the range rover to the landrover. The unimog was in just as deep as the other two so I can pretty much assume that it was just as soft where he was.
He then set off just on tickover and pulled the other two out. They may be small horse power but the torque the generate must be something colossal.
Probably the most amazed I have ever been with the power of a four wheel drive vehicle.

I just checked out some of the links you guys provided, thanks. I can't believe how many different models they offer. I also can't believe they don't sell them here in the good old USA, the country of excess and gluttany. U.S. consumers would eat these up, at least we would have a couple years ago before $4.50 a gallon gas and diesel prices. I can't believe Arnold the Govenator does not have one.

I have seen and driven the Internationals, I own a trucking company and most of my fleet is Internationals. They are cool and I have thought about buying one, but this Unimog is far more unique. I see quite a few of the CXT's and MXT's running around here by my home. I live in Naperville, IL which is 5 minutes from Warrenville, IL, which is where the International/Navistar world head quarters is located so I see them on a daily basis, I think some of the big wigs must drive them as company cars because there are always 4-5 of them parked out in the employee lot.

My good friend owns a International/Hino/Volvo/Mercedes/etc.....commercial truck dealership and repair center. He actually brings in a Unimog once or twice a year. They are one of the few places that still mess with them. He always calls me to come check them out. They can scale a friggin wall. You can hit some crazy 45 degree inclines straight on without bottoming out. Very offroad capable. Point of this post is that I can get you in contact with him if you are interested in finding one.

Lot of survivalist types around here and I came across this one couple of years ago.
Wild machine. This guy was prepared for WWIII. Look on top. All kinds of stuff going on up there.

I have seen the Lone Stars on the road, they're really cool looking. Like I said their headquarters are just down the road literally 5 minutes from my home. I actually saw one 2-3 months ago. Way too nice for my fleet, most of my stuff is local, I only have four sleepers in my entire fleet, mostly all day cabs. Does Lone Star come in a twin screw day cab?
sure does. prostar and lonestar have an incredible ride. i just put five prostars into a customer in bellmawr, nj. his drivers love them! i had sold him about 50 9200s, and he is just starting to make the switch to the prostar. i think i have lonestar daycab info at the office. if you want to pm me info, id be more than happy to throw it in the mail.

There were a couple running around Boulder when I lived there 10 years back and I always wanted to buy one but my wife gave me the veto. Pretty odd as she always lets me do whatever I want with cars no matter how exotic or impractical. She apparently doesn't understand why someone "needs an H1 or a Unimog as they serve no purpose driving on asphalt". Personally, I can think of plenty of reasons. Topping the list would be "because I want one"! ![devil](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/devil.gif)
I would go for one! The older units have a very cool vintage flair about them but the newer units are far better suited to just good old driving about. Pretty much personal preference as to which style. I like the fully enclosed shell on the back as it adds to the general excessive nature of the machine and the truck beds end up being so tall that they are a PITA to use for utility so why bother.
