I MAAAAAY be Jumping Ship to an M3 Sedan??

I drove one the other day and its a nimble little toy. TQ wise? Well it has none... It does have the high revving motor that is a blast to throw around.

What do you guys think? Will I regret the change?

Are you talking about the new V8 M3.. that car is fast

I'm thinking about buying the V10 M5 in the future, not for me but the wife. Just going to borrow it sometime

If you havent done so, I urge you to drive a C63 for an equal comparison (even though it pretty much beats it in every category)...unless you're just looking for a change of scenary.

I don't know the difference in price between the M3 & 335 But I hear the 335 can be made faster than the M3.

Erroneous. Only performance category the C63 beats it in is acceleration.

Drove the DCT coupe- different feel than even my M6... not as fast but the car does get moving up top.

You can score a deal on the sedan right now- they are sitting on the lots. Just make sure you get the DCT tranny if you pull the trig.

I have been thinking of doing the 335

The 335 can be made to be faster but I don't know how reliable that will be in the long run.

I have not had the chance to drive the DCT but I think a manual may be my first choice.

I drove it, great gearbox but I didn't like the throw, far too long for my tastes. DCT is a much better match for the motor.

much too long and the clutch is pretty mushy.

DCT is definitely the way to go.

Go with the 335 sedan and with the $$$ you will save you can Dinan Stage 2 it (more power than the M3) and add some suspension goodies and maybe a nice set of rims as well.

Once you drive the DCT you will change your mind or I hope you will. At my local dealers it seems the interested public has the same feelings as there are tons of 6 speeds and far less DCT's. You can get the 6 speeds for invoice or slightly over and the DCT's are still pulling sticker.

Its a more advanced tranny than even the SMG III in our beloved E60 and E63 M cars.

M3 should really be comparing with C63...

anyway, never bigfan about high rev low torqe engine. had M3, had RS4...the engine character on 63 is day and night difference better than those high rev low torque V8.

M3 is nice but I would hate to take a jump down from an E55.

I am debating on doing the change becasue I love the E55 engine. I have done a ton of mods so the car is where I want it to be. The M3 has the power but also the ability to toss it around like a racecar, the Beast is lacking in handling which I miss.

M3 will be much smaller than your E. If you want to keep the size and acceleration but improve handling and do it all with 4 doors, check out a lightly used E60 M5. Should be able to get an 08 for what the 09 M3's are going for (I think). Now, if you don't mind stepping down in size, go for the M3 DCT or the C63. Test drive all 3 before you sign the dotted line... That's my take on it... Good luck!!

I was MBSD an hour ago and there is a beautiful white C63 in the showroom. i also checked out BMW and looked at a few M3 sedans. I plan on driving the DCT sometime this week but i still am excited about the manual tranny.

I also looked at a X6 5.0, it's definitely a sweet SUV or whatever it is. Not really into SUV's but that would be the one I would get if I were in the market.

Having owned an E46 M3 and an E60 M5, I can tell you, don't waste your time getting an ///M car with the manual tranny - get the SMG or DCT. They design the Ms for those transmissions - you won't regret it.

Damn whippersnappers...
