besides being akward, it's worth a try. I've wanted to try this among a few other things for a while but kept getting kicked out before getting a chance. anything to keep the ucu out of the loop should help.

I'm confused on what you are asking? I put mine in dyno mode. Hold the brakes hard, begin to accelerate and slowly let off the brake and get the tires to dig in and then spin. No SBC.

He is asking if you should let the car hold the brake automatically thereby having just your right foot in the equation. SBC-Hold is supposed to let go upon the slightest depression of either the gas or brake pedal.
It would definitely eliminate any kind of brake launching.

Ohhhhh, now I get it.
It's the Europe SBC feature. Not available in US.
From what I heard, you press the brake down hard to the floor at idle in park and she locks in place until you press the gas pedal.
Bit scary for me, but worth a try eh across the pond eh?

I have it on my E55 also...you depress the brake hard when in drive not park and it will hold the car in place...designed for long stop and go situations I guess.
I think they stopped the SBC brakes in 2006+.

none
For what its worth (being a 98') my car does this in "W" mode selected on the transmission. A simple complete stop will hold the car until the gas is touched.

Ok, I get it. The new C class has it and there is no way it would be as strong or controllable as the power braking method.
SBC is NOT what that is and ALL MBs still have SBC. The only part that was pulled was the fly by wire setup of it. SBC does many more things than just hold the brakes. It mainly modulates the actual pressure sent to each wheel. For example, when the car dips, more pressure gets sent to the rears.

They abandoned the fly by wire portion of the system because of a few failures that set the scene for an issue. In response, MB stopped offering it on the '07 W211 models AND went back and gave everyone with classic SBC extended warranties. Hydraulics havn't advanced. They are still slower and heavier than electronic setups, but apparently also more consistent.
