So I would need the following parts for the brake job...right?

1) Front brake rotors - Zimmerman
2) Front brake pad set (Akebonos) like CWW recommended
3) Anti-squeal
4) Front brake sensors

Do I need anything else beside the parts from the above list?

That should be it. Pads, rotors, sensors, anti-squeal, and just remember now is the time to paint the calipers if you have been toying with the idea.

On the rotors, if I were you I would get your rotors from these guys, it will be cheaper than the dealer and they only sell OEM Mercedes parts. Actually, the orders are fulfilled by MB of Miami's wholesale desk. I buy my rotors from them.

E55 front rotors are on the bottom, $103 apiece, OEM Mercedes dealer-supplied part.

You do need the anti-squeal. Otherwise it's guna be noisy, which you won't like. Just to be safe, get two packets for each corner.

The sensors are cheap. Some people re-use the old ones if they haven't made contact yet, but I don't see the point. For $10 or whatever, just get new ones. On most MB's, there are 2 in front and one on one of the rear wheels, for 3 total. Not 100% sure about the W211's though. Someone else will be able to answer that.

Someone else mentioned that you need to applied so sort of grease when changing out the rotors. Is this true? Additionally, what type of cleaning solvent do you use to clean the surface of the new rotors? Also, do I need to have a brake flush job if I change out my brakes?

Ok I found the link for the Anti-Squeal which u posted above but how many pack do I need?? 1 for each pad right ? which mean I need 4 packs??? And I have no idea where to get the sensor??

I would get 8 packets, so you have 2 per wheel. The E55 has big brake pads, so you will need a little more than normal. You really want to give both sides of the shim a good thick coating, and the same with the backs of the pads themselves. Then it will be nice and quiet.

Can someone tell me what the MB 'squeal grease' is, just high temp grease? Is it anything I can pickup at the local parts store? TIA

The squeal grease you're referring to is the "anti-squeal paste". I already posted the part number and a link where you can get it online, above. I have no clue what it's made out of, or how it works. But I use it, and I do know it does work.

Since it only costs $1.90 a packet when you buy it online, I've never been inclined to try and use anything else. I'm sure there must be some kind of comparable product you can get from autozone etc., but I don't know what it is, or if it works as good or not.

RockAuto is where I got my akebono ceramic brakes, though I got my rotors from parts.com. Rock has good prices!

So i ordered all the parts. Is the procedure the same as any other brake job, aside from unplugging the SBC?

Yup, almost exactly the same. Just make sure you generously coat the shims and the backs of the pads with that anti-squeal paste before you put it all back together.

If you are changing the rotors at the same time, then you might think about taking the car out to a long straight road and doing 4 or 5 60mph+ to 0 quick stops, and then drive around for a bit afterwards to let things cool off. It takes a little bit longer to bed ceramic brakes than the normal ones, maybe a week of normal use or so vs. the first 20 miles like normal brakes, but doing those stops right off the bat will get the process moving.

Hey no problem guys, I'm happy to help.

This is probably my single favorite mod I've ever done to one of my cars, and am glad to see others going over to ceramics. That stupid dust used to annoy the living $h!t out of me! I've had 5 mercedes over the years, and all of them dusted terribly. It's just awful, looks like crap, and will eat the finish off the rims if you let it sit often enough.

Brake technology has jumped so far ahead, but all the manufacturers keep using the same old pagid and ATE pads that were developed back in 1975 or whenever. Ceramics have been really slow to catch on, outside of racing, which is pretty silly.....since they really are better.

You guys will love them, and I doubt you will ever use stock pads again. Never having to clean the rims is absolutely priceless.
