I have seen these before along with a write up but don't recall where. They are GORGEOUS and they are of course full on race cars but I don't remember the series in which they are supposed to run.

Yes, even more proof that that thing is a real race car, I believe LeMans cars require amber headlights in GT2 cars, last time I checked they dont make any amber HIDs.
You guys, this is a race car, not some Euro only street car. See the little red thing sticking out the hood, that is part of the Halon fire supression system, it allows safety workers or pit crew members to activate the system from out side the car. I just want to know where they are going racing with it? PLEASE SAY ROLEX 24 HOURS OF DAYTONA.

Wow! All dressed up and ready to dance.
Perfect for those who may have thought that a Mercedes-Benz was only an old man’s car.

E63,,,not any more,,,BMW X5 50i
I don't recall a glass windshield or glass side windows on a race car...even the mirror, where its placed doesn't look right. Could it be a pace or a safety car??? Whatever......looks sick!!

Maybe these are one off customer cars from the Performance Studio....but I seriously doubt it. Looks to me like AMG has decided to go racing in 2009 !!!!
Man - I can't WAIT to see where these cars are gonna end up....Wonder what kind of sick 63 motor is under that hood ?!?!?!?

I posted the pics over on the AMG Private Lounge asking if anyone from AMG could provide more info on the car.

I really hope this is going to be a factory supported racing effort in the US. If so, I'll be getting my ducks in a row to run a privateer team next year.

For that kind of $$$$ you can run a 997 Cup Car in Grand Am GT class, get plenty of TV coverage, and have ~ $250k leftover to put in your pocket. I'm hoping thats what this car was made for....if so, I'll be buying one and testing for the 24hrs.
When I got my Black Series, I took it out to the track where we were testing one of our 996 GT3 Cup Cars. The Black Series had about 800 miles on it at the time. I put down a faster lap then our PRO driver in the Cup car - bone stock fresh off the showroom floor. If this car is in fact made for Grand Am or ALMS for that matter - IT WILL DOMINATE.
I've even been toying with the idea of taking my car and turning it into a full race car and running GT in Grand Am. Think about it - to convert it to full race would take about $50k. Then, you just go and buy another for about $90k and do the same and you have a full prepped race ready backup. A single 997 GT3 Cup Car is about the same price as 2 Black Series full race prep'd. And I guarantee you a tubbed Black Series will kill any 997 GT3.
Decisions, decisions....

Yeah, looks like Lime Rock behind the paddock but these cars never ran with any sactioned Skippy event(s). I appreciate you positng these photos - nice find. But, your responses are quite cryptic. Are you just posting cool photos or do you actually have information about these cars that you are not sharing ?
