anyone seen this intake mod yet

https://mbworld.org/forums/members/p...-dsc03307.html

Looks like it may get some good hp especially at higher speeds.
Anyone else try this? Any negative effects to doing this?

nice simple idea for most applications but i'm not sure how much it will help with our f/i motors. it's probably very difficult to measure any gains on a dyno as well so it might be hard to prove benefits. the bright side is that there likely won't be any negative effects.

You are blocking cooling area of radiator to gain just a bit of funneling of air. 211s run hot and anything to take away cooling ability would not be good.

I'm calling shenanigans!!

W211's like most cars run hot for a reason, emissions control. I don't think the car running hot has anything to do with the radiator receiving limited airflow; but rather the settings of the electronic fans, and the thermostat value.

Well, then why have a radiator at all......

Cooling area and airflow are the only thing keeping the engine heat in check. Excessive hot running means retarded timing, hence lower power.

I understand the idea but it looks like paint them black so that they do not stand out as much.

Believe those are RPI scoops. I know the E60 M5/M6 and even the E63 gain a few ponies with these.. Vic55 has them on his M6, and Joe (Vegastrashed) has them on his E63

our cars really don't have a problem with engine temps so I can't see this mod causing any problems in that area.

If it were, I suppose they would not have placed the a/c condenser in front of the radiator
