About to become an 04 e55 amg owner...
Picking up an 03-04 e55 amg here within the next few months, just sold my e46 m3 and have been browsing the site for the past week. So far i'm just blown away by this car's numbers. After parting out my e46 I've figured out i'm going to have about 3 grand or so to dump into the e55 once it gets here. As fast as the car is stock i'm sure i'm going to want more, definitely would be nice to hit 11's at the strip. So my question to you guys is what would be a nice way to blow this 3 grand on some go fast parts?
I've been eyeing the LET Stage 1 package which contains the pulley and a stage 1 tune, then maybe picking up some used headers or something to help out in the cooling department.

Hey Chad....this is the same chad with the silver m3 on m3f?
If so...i've always admired your car and I'm sure you will make your e55 just as nice...
I just recently picked up an 04 E55 but haven't had the extra dough to buy any performance parts yet.
I've heard good things about the evosport packages...check those out and good luck in your search!

My suggestion: Drive the E55 for awhile before you mod it. I sold my E46 M3 (although not for the E55) but the E55 is SO much stronger that I haven't felt the need for a single mod.

I'm a former multi-e46 M3 owner (although last one was 5 years ago) and have had e60 M5 too....picked up an '06 E55 5 or 6 weeks ago.
I don't think the car needs anything in the power department...I mean power is what this thing already has! I'm planning on keeping mine pretty stock but I think there are a few non-power areas that need improvement.
For 3k or so...I'd probably get an Electronic Lowering Module to eliminate the gaps and improve handling a bit. I'd also pick up another set of 18x9" rear wheels and run them up frnot with bigger rubber (I'm about to go 275 all around on 9" wheels). Handling-related improvements are what the car really needs...
So far I've spent to make the car a better daily driver and cleaned up the appearance a bit...added 35% tint, ipod integration kit, activated Sirius, bought painted reflectors, bought bulbs to match color with the xenons, bought LED fog lights, bought more 9" rear wheels for the front.
So, no mods to get excited about I already like the car better
Software tuning is tempting but this car is still under warranty for quite a while and I want to keep it that way

Huracan. S63. CL63. E55.
I am a former M3 owner as well...just sold my Alpine White M3 (m3forum and e46f name ///M_Chap) and I'm loving the E55...power is amazing and I have only done exterior mods so far, you're going to love the torque you get from the AMG in comparison to the M3.

Thanks for the comments guys, test drove another one today. The power is a completely different animal than the M3, a whole other league. I definitely want to do little things with a portion of the money I have left over. Probably get rid of the orange reflectors, lower the car via star, but i'm really leaning towards calling up Wayne at LET Tuning and getting a pulley, tune, heat exchanger, and pump. No such thing as too much power I say. Eventually I'll get wheels, really wouldn't mind getting another set of LM's like I had on the M.

Whatever you do, please get a baseline dyno. It will help in the future endeavors.
Stage 1 (Pulley and ECU Tune) seems the way to go for sure. I got the ECU tune first and have not done the pulley due to not finding any competition to justify the additional expense.

You will love the E. For about $2500, you can get a stage 1 from LET and a code 3 heat exchnager and you should be in the 11's. Last week I ran an 11.93 @119.8 with a 1.96 60-foot time with just an asp pulley and LET Tune.
The pulley/tune wake the care up and you will not regret it. Wayne and Jerry at LET are absolutely great to work with as well as Victor and Vadim at VRP Tuning. You're in good hands with most tuners you go with.
Pull the trigger on the E already

I agree; you will definitely love your E (once you actually get around to pulling the trigger on one!) ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I think there are a ton of improvements you can make for about $3k. I think you should drive it for a lil bit to see what appeals to you more, but you can definitely make a difference with a Stage 1 kit. I would suggest looking into Kleemann, also. They offer a ton of products for your soon-to-be E and you definitely won't be disappointed. Shoot Cory at Kleemann an email (Cory@KleemannUSA.com) and he can give you a run down on everything that his company has to offer.
Good luck with your upcoming purchase. Keep us updated on your progress.

Maybe you should get used to the car first before modding...just my .02c I always found that the greatest gain in the vehicle was feeling the change in power after I've gotten used to it...not as soon as I got it. The 55 has a lot more power than you old bimmer and its a lot more to handle...youll see

Do your self a favor and build up slowly. Do the sl55 intake mod...$15 plastic tube to take out a serious restriction in airflow. Move your horn to get better cooling. The gas pedal is electronic so get a Sprintbooster for $300. Doesn't make you faster but it feels that way because it accelerates the throttle opening over stock rate...gets you moving sooner and downshifts on the highway happen when you expect for best acceleration. I got in on a LET Tune Group Buy for $600. Worth every penny...optimizes a/f ratio, removes torque restriction and speed limiter. So there's your first $1000..and a huge improvement with that alone. Above that your getting into some serious coin. I haven't found the need to do more except a warranty which should be a serious consideration. Mine was $1800 for 4yr/48k. Paid for itself twice over already in last 6 months..1 IC pump & 1 diverter valve w/labor under warranty was $3500.

Wryfox can I ask where you got your warranty? Just picked up '05 E55 from local Benz dealer and they charged me almost 4k for a 3 yr warranty (factory warranty was already expired) They had many different options but I chose the best one which covers bumper to bumper (my first AMG so wasn't sure what can go wrong)

Easycare..it is offered through the dealership but is not MB service. The dealer does a 100 point inspection for proof you don't have any existing issues. I expect that's why its such a good price. Also, everything is negotiable at a dealership, including this warranty...we ended up at $1850. The only trick is you have to pay the dealer for the inspection whether you qualify or not. I can't recall exactly but it was around $100.

nice to see some of the bmw owners heading into a benz instead of the p-car......

HEEEEYYYYY now, you said $600 for a LET tune? What the hell if that offer comes by again I am all over that!!! Wayne are you out there? How about one more time for a Christmas present for me. My wife and I were just talking last night and decided to both take some cash and buy whatever we want instead of buying each other gifts that suck. Please Wayne?
