Latest Nav DVD
Anyone know what is the most current Nav DVD available that will work in the 55's?? I'm currently running the 2006.2 DVD.

NAVTEQ just released 2008-1 on 11/24/08 that will work in our cars. They want $199.00 on their website.

I really gotta agree with this sentiment; my TomTom has way more features than my nav on the E55, and the updated maps cost a fraction of that!

This is a prime example of the Benz tax. On my ever-vigilant quest to avoid said tax, I won't be undone by a DVD

Depends on the car it was designed for. Navteq makes the MB ones, so that is simple packaging. The 2007.1 update being sold may not even be available at the deal and if it is it is likely $400 for the EXACT same thing.

I thought updates were free from MB? Aren't they supposed to send us free updates upon new releases as long as we own the car? That's what dealer told me. I got 2 dvd's in the mail since I owned car.

so if you request it at the dealer, then they send it to you for free or give it to you there? I asked my sales rep about updated when i bought car and he said we'll just send it to you when a new version comes out.

its worked on previous versions. Just need to make an image of it. I think thats what I did when I put up 2006.1 a while back. I've made copies off copies and they still work.
