Earlier tonight I got this message on my cars display.Have any of you had to add oil to your cars this early in it's life? I only have 5,000 miles on the car..08 E63.. Thanks for the feed back.

i heard it happens with e63's, i know m5 burn quite a bit as well. its not uncommon for high hp na motors that turn big rpms to burn oil.

It's normal on E63's. I change my oil more frequently than recommended and i still get that message around 4,000 to 5,000 miles.

Did you do a proper breakin on the new car/motor? My 02 E55K S/C'ed, 68K miles don't burn any oil at all. I owned 3 BMW M3 and they don't burn oil either.

Search the threads here. You'll see a lot of us with 55's and 63 engines burn oil. 18k miles on my ML63 and I STILL burn oil. Allegedly thats the "Norm"

I got that message at about 7,700 miles in my 08. I was very careful during the breakin period. I am guessing that my consumption is about 3,000 miles per quart which I don't find objectionable. I was just surprised by the message.

My 09 C63 will be getting it's 2nd quart this week...I have about 5k miles..seems at every 2500 miles, it wants more!

I'm taking the car for service tomorrow.. Although I only have 5,000 miles, I was told by MB that I need to get an oil change because it is either your first 10,000 miles or 1 full year of ownership.
It's still kind of crazy that the car burns Oil. I took it very easy the first 1,500 miles but after that I got on her pretty good. Thanks for the comments.

Had the same message on my cl63 and M6 in the past.. just add some oil its not a big deal

Mine too. This beast eats lots of oil LOL. I always have 2 qts in the trunk.
