Latest Updates....

I figured to keep these latest updates at the top of each page for easy finding....

*****>> Event Update: I just came back from the track. I met with the track owner and gave him the money + list of drivers and cars and went over a few other things. So far, the weather has been cooperating beautifully, so we are still on schedule. Gates will open at 8:00 a.m. and first race to start at 9:15 a.m. unless weather conditions change. If everything goes as scheduled, then racing will end at 4:00 p.m.. In addition, because we felt that it's not fair for James to cover all the food and drinks by himself (although he never said anything), we've decided to charge a small fee of $10 per spectator to help out with the food expenses. Here is a few summary of latest updates/notes:
  • Gates will open at 8:00 a.m.
  • If weather doesn't interfere, racing will start at 9:15 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.
  • There will be a charge of $10 per spectator at the gate.
  • If you will be taking pictures or video, please make sure to remove license plate info from pictures and videos. Also, out of respect to some participants, please talk to me at the track before shooting video so I can provide you with a complete list of who prefers to stay off camera completely.
  • If anybody is going to drive somebody else's car, then that second person needs to fill out a separate tech card with the same car info unless that person has already filled out a tech card for their own car, in which case, they only need to sign the tech card of the person whom their car they will be driving. I'm not sure if that came out right
  • Please keep an eye on this thread especially throughout Friday night in case of any last minute changes or updates that may come up.

Track Address:
============
Auto Club Famoso Raceway
33559 Famoso Rd.
McFarland CA. 93250

Holy crap Ra, your clock has been beating me upside the head since Sunday.

My last outing at Sac netted me one busted halfshaft. So this past Sunday I decided to install a fresh one for the other side. Well the damn thing had galled it's self into my Quaife. Not to mention I found I had cracked a rear rotor. Long story short, it's been a major wrench fest since then and as of 1/2 hour ago, she's ready for Saturday.

Anyhow guys, I hadn't mentioned this before. But my little red beater happens to be the quickest and fastest NA 6.1 Magnum in the country. So anybody looking to beat up on a poor little station wagon is welcome to do so .

And if anybody needs anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask. I always have tons of tools with me and would be more then happy to help out were I can.

Thanks again for putting this together Mo!.

BTW, I see you guys might wanna make a little smoke sometime in the day. Here's my winning run at Route66 this year. Please excuse some of the wierdness after the first cloud, I was down a power steering pump and one tire already. So she was a bit of a handfull.

Weather is still looking good for Saturday, but it is getting gradually hotter. As of today, the average expected hi temp for the 17th is close to 65 F but the good news is that temp will still remain under 60 until 1:00 p.m. or so.

As you can see in the chart below, the surrounding area around the track have been suffering from very dense fog but not every day; for now, the emerging pattern seems like the area is fogy every other day. I've been to the track a few times this week already and I've seen it fogy only once. I personally think it will not be as fogy as expected on the 17th since the night of the 16th is expected to be clear, but if it does get fogy, we will have to wait until it clears up before they let us run. Usually, at worst case scenario, fog clears up no later than 10:30 a.m. I will update this thread with further info and hopefully more weather details on the night before our event. If it will be fogy, I'll update the post above as well (post number 701).....

Here is the weather.com snap shot.....

No, many of the SRT guys attending are great car enthusiasts that I used to see almost at every track in CA from Fontana to Sacramento.... plus thier cars have so many Mercedes parts, they're practically brothers

Cool, just wonderin'.

I know the Crossfire shares a platform with the 32, but does the SRT8's share engines, trans, chassis, etc with other AMG's???

Well, our motors are 100% pure American

I know cause it's stamped right on the block "Hecho en México"

But the Trans, dif, electronics and other great parts were designed my MB. I'm not some huge Mopar nut. The only reason I purchased this ride three years ago was just some basic transportation for job walks and what ever and figured after two years I'd throw it away like the last two rides I bought from Chrysler.

And then the affliction set in.

But I wil say that if it were not for the MB staff engineering these rides, they would not be what they are.

I know the SRT-8 uses the same trans as the W210 E55 and W208 CLK55. Thats how I got my trans built

Are you sure about that? I thought the SRT6 shared C32 parts. The trans in the W210 E55 is equivalent to the NAG-1

Thanks for the heads-up Evan.....

Guys, like I said before, some members do not want to be videotaped, so please respect others' wishes and don't video tape anybody without their permission. You can talk to me at the track and I'll show you who doesn't want to be videotaped along with a few other notes regarding pictures.

So far, we are on schedule, as weather is cooperating and track conditions are great

Please don't forget your driver licenses and helmets on Saturday

I promise you all one memorable event

Thanks,

MB_Forever
