LMAO, well we found a solution to my little problem. Once again I'll be the first guy to try something out, a completely new dif and halfshaft set-up. Lets hope this one works huh .

LXCam...Thanks a bunch for the race gas! Hopefully one day I could re-pay you the favor.

I hope you get your monster fixed soon so we could meet back up at Sac town . It's always a pleasure and look forward to seeing you again.

A night event would let us run how late exactly? Hell, I'll run all night if they let me.

Famoso is a awesome track but if some of you are looking for better DA Sacramento might be the answer. As for the VHT, I'm willing to pay extra for the prep...it will be well worht it.
Alan, Famoso usually gets low DA in December and January, but we got caught up in a heat wave this year. If you check the date of January 17th in the past 4 years, you'll see high temps of 48 F.

I don't mind Sacramento either as long as we all pay extra for all the additional track prep.... Otherwise, Sacramento will be a hit or miss type situation. I've been there 3 times and traction was the worst I've seen in all tracks I've been to so far.

I don't have any hard numbers yet, I will call tomorrow and get the exact quotes. But I know for sure that we have to at least pay $1600 for 3 barrels of VHT to re-shoot the track every hour or so for the entire day I'm guessing at most, it'll be maybe $2k to $3k extra. I will find out tomorrow

Why would we pay extra for prep when it should be 100% in the first place. Man I wish I could sell cars that way, Thank you sir for buying the car,
"Yes I know the tires are bald but it's an extra $1500 if you want them to be safe" Now that is

Thank you MR. Mo for your purchase of the new TWIN TURBO E CLASS MBZ, oh, and by they way, if you want the ECU tuning for the TURBOS just pay the cashier an extra 5k on your way out,
Thanks agian,,,,

We have a track day at Willow Springs on Feb 19th.

Why not do a "king of the road" competition. Road race time + drag time = champion.

Can do them back to back days. Willow Springs is 1/2 way to Famoso from SoCal.

thanks

I'd be willing to do this since I would expect that with this extra cash ... the track prep would be even BETTER than anything else. I highly doubt that at any of the tracks that we don't pay extra ... they would be laying down even 1/4 of the VHT that we could up in Sac.

Seriously. +1000 I was under the impression that the track was going to be prepped. I can buy my own vht and spray bottle and it wouldn't cost that much.

This is how it is at Sacramento...... their standard track prep is just not on par with other tracks! Even when Adam was going to do this whole big private rental for us in December of 2007, they quoted same amount for additional VHT and track prep When I first requested extra track prep, they said why? And what cars will you be running? I just said I'd like the track to be very extremely over well prepped because I never get traction there....

Now don't get me wrong, sometimes the track is "decently" prepped, but most of the time it's just not. And aside from track prep, there a couple of areas that are un-even on the launching pads, and worn spots on the asphalt near the end of the track on the left lane, etc.....

If we really going to pick Sacramento, then we will need to pay for the extra traction or it'll be a waste, as everybody will be spinning tires the first 100 feet or so. I remember SLK55R (who has one of the strongest and meanest SLKs on the planet) was spinning tires more than half way down the track. If he is to join us, we have to make sure they shoot and re-shoot the ENTIRE track not just the first 100 feet.

When I told Famoso that we have a couple of 10-second cars coming, they shot the whole track with VHT the night before and early morning....

One more thing..... Fontana is another good choice. I know it won't be as good for record-setting runs because of the elevation and what not, but the track employs one of the BEST TRACK PREPS EVER.... so it's definately a good opportunity to practice and maybe have bracket racing....

hrmm

well maybe I'm game for famosa as well. I just need to somehow lug 2 rear tires along ...

I'll also have to map out a route that has 100 octane gas from Bay area down.

Anyone know of any good 100 octane places along this route? I use Sunoco 100 atm.

Really? the track was not very sticky? Seemed not to be prepped that great. For those Famoso regulars, was it better then average?

So - nobody is up for the road coarse and drag strip combo?

Honestly, I would rather just use a stopwatch on the street than run at Fontana.

It is a god forsaken hell hole that sucks good ET's into a blackhole. That track is junk, period, with terrible prep and an even worse staff.

If you guys want good track prep tell them to scrub the track and see if they can lay down resin for the first 60' and then VHT on top of that. VHT on the whole track is overkill for most street cars

Sounds like fun Brad..I like road racing too.. But, I have an e55. which is only good at going fast in a straight line.

You wont be breaking any kind of records at Fontana. I have seen some good track prep though. (not all the time) I am surprised Famoso wasnt stickier? I have ran both turbo and na cars and managed consistent 1.49-1.57 60 foot times. So, I was a bit suprised.

It seemed like there were very good 60' times that day..... some benzes dipped into the low 1.6..... and even my car on street tires managed a 1.87 and 1.86 (completely stock)

I'd love the road course and drag strip combo, but looks like people are divided almost equally between all the options

Ill vote for Friday night. We stayed at Famoso until about 9 or so with Juicee do to a broken belt on the 911, and it was getting colder by the minute.
