How to lower E55 via Star Diagnostics System

I have an appointment with a shop for Service F but at the same time, I want to lower my car via star method and the -10 Degree mod. I found the -10 degree mod tutorial in the DIY thread but cannot find a DIY for the star lowering method.

The tech is very trained and knowledgeable with MB but has never done a lowering via star (clientele for MB is typically a 50+ crowd where I live with no mods). He can calibrate the ride height no problem and thinks he has to just program the variables lower however, I read many threads indicating some of you that have had the ride height adjust back to stock.

Does anyone know the procedure to lower an E55 via Star correctly? Thanks in advance.

I would also like to know. My brother is a tech, but when he lowered it, it just automatically went back to stock, he doesn't know why

From what I remember when we lowered my car using star we set the ride height, then the tech used jacks to raise the car to get the values within the range.

You won't get much response on this. Just a heads up. Been tried and tried again but most tuners won't give up the secret.

I can get mine lowered in Star, but then you need to set some type of angles in Star or she won't take.

If you DO find out the secret, please please post it for us.

Otherwise, gonna have to pay someone to do it.

I tried to lower mine through SDS as well but found out I needed to enter the inclinometer readings for the new settings to take. I attached some info at the bottom of this thread.

i let MBenzNL lower mine via SDS... 1 thing i know is that it ain't as easy as setting xenon present...
only downside to it is that i can't go back to original height but current airmatic raise still clears all driveways...

IMO, this discussion pretty much makes the case for installing an ELM if you want to diddle with the ride height of your car. The ELM has numerous advantages over Star lowering:

1) full adjustability, with ability to turn off and restore factory settings instantly;

2) customization without requiring another visit to whoever did the initial "Star" adjustment;

3) no need to set incline measurements to store lowered position;

4) ability on 2nd generation units to have a remote control module readily available and in a convenient location to the driver (versus extending wires on pot controls on early units, or having no control with a Star lowering;

5) ability to remove ELM prior to sale of car and recover a decent portion of initial cost versus complete non-recoverable cost of initial and subsequent "Star" lowerings and adjustments;

6) not having to find someone who actually knows how to do a "Star" lowering correctly, and has the proper tools (i.e., inclinometer - not cheap for a good one) to do it correctly.

The only real disadvantage of doing an ELM is the cost of the initial outlay for the module and remote. As the cars continue to rapidly depreciate, the entry cost for an ELM and remote set-up becomes a much larger percentage of the value of the car. However, this disadvantage is mitigated by the vastly superior flexibility offered by an ELM over a "Star" lowering.

I've yet to read of anyone having issues with a correctly installed ELM. As always, YMMV.

Unoffically this is how I lowered mine via STAR:

1)You adjust the voltage (through the appropriate menU) of each corner by raising/lower the car to the height that you want (less approx .5 inch).

2)Set the front inclimoteter angle to 5.0 and the rear to 2.1. After you are done, the car will lower itself about .5 inch MORE than what was set in step-1.

3)Start the car and drive it around the block to get the airmatic to adjust.

This is what I found out after "playing with" it. The other poster was correct. After these adjustments, I have no idea how to get it back to the stock height, but this only applies to the front.
