Sacramento Raceway February 7th?
. Sacramento is still one of fastest tracks in Cali besides infineon.Mo, work on getting that Infineon track day and I bet many will come.

was great to see some old faces as well as new today.
The weather was fantastic and for me the track prep was okay. I was running 245/40 18 MT ET street radials and was still losing traction a bit. I was getting decent launches but I need to still get used to the drag radials breaking loose and waiting for them to grip.
With 1st gear I was running pretty steady 12.0s.
My best time was a 2nd gear start at 14:17 :
Right Lane
Reaction 0.163
I1 was 1.754
I2 was 4.939
I3 was 7.634
I3 MPH 92.147
I4 was 9.913
ET was 11.846
MPH was 116.705
I'm still getting a bit of slow shift from 2nd to 3rd right now and was slipping a little at the top end of 2nd. I think this is costing me a couple tenths by itself.
I was talking with Andrew as you did that run...I think. Was this your personal best?
Great job!
You guys said it was sunny all day, the track was dry, DA was very good, prep was okay, then what killed the traction? Was there any moisture on the launching pads? Did they not prep it right? Did you guys do good burnouts?
Hammer, your car is incredible With 2.0 to 2.2 60' times, you still managed 12.30s
Both times I went to Sacramento my best times came around the same time as SLK55R...14:00. Then again I can't really say anything because I'm the one who initiated the little meet and didn't show up

!Look forward to doing that again... and now I have a baseline for mods... first up... K & N filters... I'll order those next week...

.Let's setup another date soon before the weather starts warming up. Next time I'll be there for sure.
I'm glad everyone had a great time and apologize once again for being a flake. It was somewhat out of my hand though.
If anyone has a suggestion or recommendation for the next track day let's set it up. The weather will start getting warmer so lets do it soon.

When would you be available to hit the track up again? I would really like to get a few more runs in before it starts getting warmer.

It is hard to get people to commit that early for a track date. There is another California track that is faster than both Sacramento and Infineon...... it's called Samoa Raceway and is located in Eureka, California. It is fairly easy to rent, but we'll likely loose most SoCal guys because it'll be 10 hours drive for them (one way)

Would it be worth while if we rented for 2 days? How's the track prep compared to Sacramento?

. Humidity is usually higher there however. Overall, the track is fairly easy to rent and is a little cheaper than Famoso. I have no idea about traction, as that is the only track in California that I have not visited yet. However, I'm almost 100% positive it'll be better than Sacramento. Heck, every track I've ever been to so far was better than Sacramento even on it's worse night. I think it's so bad that NHRA stopped doing their major drags up there all together. Anyways, here is a map of the Samoa Drag Strip....

Mo, I don't think traction was that bad at Sacramento, was it? SLK55R got down to 1.7's in the 60' mark and other seemed to run what they have in the past. If I'm not mistaken SLK55R was happy to be in the 11's and this was done for $50. Also, didn't Warren hti his PB just a couple of weeks ago? He traveled quite a long ways to run at Sacramento and it paid off. I know many still complain about the track but many people travel a ways to race here, including the Hemi boys. I'm sure if we had a meet there would be better track prep then your usual test-n-tune day. I will agree that Sacramento probably doesn't have the best track prep out there but for $50 and the low DA's it is a decent track. For example, using street tires at 35 psi at Sacramento I was able to get 11.5's @124 with a 1.828 60' time and Famoso with DR''s my lowest time was 11.65 @ 122.5 with a 1.85 60's mark. Take that the DA was high that day but I think trading off a little traction for lower DA would be acceptable...no? If I'm wrong please correct me, I'm still learning.
When Warren ran his best personal best a Sacramento a couple of weeks ago he mentioned the traction wasn't that good...but good enough for a personal best
?
Plus I like driving up to Sac from Los Altos, racing, and driving back on the same tank of gas ...

I think DR's are the way to go at Sac. Unless my Nitto's are harder than I think
they were not hooking up at all yesterday either that or my ECU is really sensitive. I had them down to 25psi and I tried getting them hot and I tried a small burnout and I tried no burnout at all and could not get below a 2.0 60'

I know after we removed the SB from Blueknights car he was able to pull off 1.9 60 footer with stock Conti's.
That day I got my PB best there were a few cars using Nitto 555's and they seemed to be having trouble hooking up.

I have the Nitto555 and they are about 3yrs old with about 7-8k miles on them.
Sorry bout the times.
Funny, last 2 times I humped it down to Sacto, the track was perfect and the (*$&#(*$&*&in car was messed up. Well the 80+ degree day didn't help last time either.
Jim are you serious???? no, not at all. They did use that rotating brush tractor contraption when someone left something on the track.
I didn't see them throw down any VHT though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

).Sacramento is a good track, but traction seems to be a hit or miss..... sometimes it's decent and sometimes it's not
The stock E55 (Hammer Down) could not crack 2.0 due to traction. SLK55R had to start in 2nd gear to get 11s
do you know how much slower second gear starts are? People using Mickey Thomsons don't have as big of a problem with traction as others, but not many running these tires
Anyways, I'm down with whichever track you guys choose.... it would be very hard to rent Infineon, but most of the other tracks seem to be more attainable. I've never tried Samoa, but I know it's DA and temps are even better than Sacramento..... I just don't know how traction is compared to Sacramento and Famoso.
