IS THE 80MM TB ENOUGH?

6.2 liter (378 cu.in.) V8, 90°, cast aluminum block and heads; 6-bolt cross-bolted main caps
Supercharger: Eaton/Magnuson 2000 cc Roots-style; with air/liquid intercooler integral to intake manifold. 44" Hg manifold pressure, absolute. (7 psig)
Bore x Stroke: 4.060 in. x 3.622 in.
Compression ratio: 10.7:1
Maximum Power: 580 bhp* @ 6200 rpm
Maximum Torque: 510 lb-ft* @ 4750 rpm
Maximum Engine Speed: 6500 rpm
Fuel system: Increased flow (53 lb/hr) fuel injectors; auxiliary fuel pump controller
Ignition system: coil per cylinder
Throttle body: 90mm diameter, drive-by-wire

renntech now offers 82mm and it is likely the reason benzgal's car is such an animal. i'd even venture to say that we could run even larger on some of the more modified cars.

I am still on stock TB! Find me a bigger one that will work with my car and I will show you the money! lol
What size is the supercharger inlet on the E55? If the inlet is smaller then there is no point in going bigger.

where can we start to look for a larger TB?
would an 82mm or larger TB require a retune or will our ecus adapt to it?
please keep us posted on your setup sergs99m3, im ready to buy a TB!
btw would i be able to use the VRP cf airbox with a TB that is bigger than 80mm?

Exactly. I was going to say that would have to be done, as well as fab up a new intake
I know it's a Vadim or Finny kind job (some of the best custom fab guys) but what heck, we're brainstorming here.

Not only restrictive but inefficient at lowering air temperature which is measured in real time after the cooler thus affecting fuel, advance and spark etc...
My suggestion is to focus on reducing air temperature after the cooler and increase air flow through the cooler.
The Vette has real nice free flowing coolers like the SLR and would take advantage of a larger diameter TB but unfortunately the 55 is pushing the limit now and we need to go the next level to see any major gain.
For significant gain (software) Shut that bypass. Heaps of ponies to be gained here.
For massive gain, Big fat coolers.
My 2 cents...

p.s i did not know that the 65 had 82mm TB! i thought kleeman uses the 65 TB for their TB mod, but no where did i hear it was 82mm!!
80mm was the biggest you could get. Show source of info please!
and if it is 82 that would mean new y pipe and housing and etc?

..LOL!!
