Question Will adjusting ride height frequently increase the chance of airmatic failure?

I mean if you using the "vehicle level button" on the center console frequently, will it increase the chance of having airmatic failure?

Interesting topic. I am wondering the exact same thing. I know some things have a tendency to fail if you DON'T use them and some things are the exact opposite. I hope some of the experts around here can let us know!

yes. It's like an Ice Maker in your house. I have 2 of them and they both break once a year. Mechanical stuff breaks.

there's no reason to start any more myths. i use mine multiple times per day and it hasn't failed in 100k miles. keep in mind that the car is adjusting itself all the time anyways so what's the difference if you happen to push a button...

You guys got nothing to worry about. The system is self leveling and adjusts on its own several times a day. The E-class airmatic system is actually very reliable compared to some other MB models.

Only issue with the E class airmatic is the supply line from the pump the the valve block rubs through the fender liner. Bad thing is if the line goes out, the pump may burn up. Or if your driving and bottom out a strut may blow out.

I use mine to raise the car at least a couple times a day (getting in and out of my office garage) nothing has happened in 30k miles (don't jinks me dammit!)

Looks like it depends on a model. On my friend's ml63, airmatic compressor failed with only 14k miles on a clock. I talked to the dealership service manager and he told me that E got very different system and it is much more reliable

I does raise and lower all the time anyway. I see no difference in raising it yourself and having it do it automatically. I wouldn't worry about raising and lowering. I would worry more about hitting potholes and rough driving surfaces, that's what will ruin your suspension.

Huracan. S63. CL63. E55.
I use mine every morning to get out of my driveway at my house (up then back down), use it when I get to work (same sequence), then again when I leave work and once more when I get home...I thought the same thing (am I over using it?) but reading this thread helps

Although it does seem that my right front sits a littler higher than the rest of my wheels on my Renntech ELM

You'd better run and find some wood to knock on. LOL. Every time in my life I've made a statement like that, the next thing I know the thing I was just bragging about never breaking...breaks.

If you're serious about the ice maker get a Hoshizaki. It is the best commercial ice maker on the market. I have them in all my bars and restaurants. Not saying they haven't broken down before but for the amount of years I've has them they easily pay for themselves. Had one in one of my locations since we opened in 1991 and it is still in service.
