You, the members, dictate how it goes. None of the mods/admins want to run this place like an iron fist. I have seen those sites- they are not fun. The reason why this forum succeeds is the wealth of knowledge that its members carry, their personalities, and their passion.

As I have asked in other threads, we all have to think and read our posts carefully before hitting the "submit reply" button. The NET has no tone, no emotion, and what we hear ourselves typing is different when its read by someone we dont know or have never met.

Its all about respect. Show it, earn it, receive it.
Ahh...don't worry...I just simply avoid confrontations online and don't retaliate. Just don't let me catch you in a cyber dark alley...lol!

Anyone who trains in boxing or MMA would knock silly anyone else who doesn't. Where's the sport in that?

I say, let the guy who gets challenged pick the athletic contest. Under those rules, I'm all in. I might even start talking trash in order to get challenged.

Well, someone might but it wouldn't be me! I'm more inclined toward the "violent" sports.

I'd guess not many but that's not the point. The point is, there's no sport in the challenger picking both the opponent and the contest.

However if the opponent gets to pick the contest, it greatly increases the uncertainty and the risk, doesn't it? It's vastly more sporting.

Not to single you out, but since you started this thread, I have seen a few remarks from you that contradict the very core of what you now criticize. So if YOU want to change, it starts with YOU. With every thread you start and every post you make. And with regards to your remarks about the financial positions of some of our members, I really don't see your point whatsoever. Don't you think that is a very naive and limited perspective on the real issues? No offense, but if you're a hater, then own up and say that. So what do you suggest? We ban anyone who flaunts or hints that they have money and that will make everything better? Your post is obviously directed at one or two individuals, so to me this post has an agenda that is personal as much as it may be for the good of the community as you see it.

I really do appreciate your feedback and I'm not going to apologize for being critical. But I think you should spend a little more time on constructive feedback and not comments that obviously generate hostility. Just read your opening sentence...

So I don't necessarily disagree with the very high level of you are attempting to do, but I disagree with how you're going about doing it.
Very well said. Look, nobody likes having wealth flaunted and thrown in their face. But, since the topic of $$$ was brought up..well, lets use Jrcart as an example. Clearly, he has enough disposable income to do just about whatever he wants. If that pisses you off, well, work harder. Otherwise, he has pushed the envelope with his car. By giving Evosport a blank check to modify the 63 platform, he has made it easier for all of us to benifit from what he has done. Sure, Brad and Simon would have gotten around to it...but not this quickly. Think about it....we 63 guys have just about as many mods for our cars as the 55k guys do and we got them a lot faster thanks to certain people who were willing to spend big bucks in initial R&D work to bring these products to market. I think perhaps that's why many of the old school 55k guys around here are a bit upset and so adament that their platform is better and cost less. Different strokes for different folks. Personally, I feel that the E55 is just about the best daily driver you can have and I plan on getting one soon. But, I am also very greatful for guys like Jim who have been the first to really mod the crap out of the 63's. Sure he might ruffle a few feathers with his deameanor...but you can't say he hasn't been an asset to the board technically and improving the database of knowledge around here.

I think the last thing we need is a member telling us about a "rear naked choke" story.

Maybe setting up an event pitting Mercedes vs other cars, to rebuild the comradery.

+1

I don't frequent many other boards... but do other marques have the same degree of internal conflict? "Dinan rules, AC Schnitzer sucks!! Or vice versa" - that type of thing?
