DIY Valve Cover Gaskets, Plugs, and Plug Wires

Just use some silicon gasket maker material. That's what I did and it's been fine.

Thanks to this DIY section. I've replaced the valve cover gasket.
What I've noticed is that the vent chamber was also part of the leak. So, using the suggested Liquid Gasket, I've re-sealed the vent chamber.

There is no rubber gasket for it, clean off the old liquid gasket and apply new liquid gasket.

I would like to add to this DIY... I found this thread when my gaskets were leaking, and changed them both out... However, my mechanic didn't reseal the vent chambers nor did I ask him too... Fast forward a few months and the passenger side vent chamber was leaking... It was simple to do, click on the link above if anyone else may be interested in doing this as well...

Did you disconnect the line going to the fuel rails? The metalish pipe doesnt seem to have so much give and I cant seem to take the valve cover off...

Yes you need to remove the braided fuel line to get the cover off on the drivers side. Undo it slowely and have a towel underneath it, unless the car has sat for a while there will be some fuel under pressure. Also remember the aluminum tube on the very right of the cover make sure it pokes back into the grommet in the SC plenum otherwise you will throw a code.

I tried to leave the fuel line on and it just wasn't happening with it on.
That aluminum tube almost made me pull my supercharger crap apart. The tube came out of its grommet which is under everything and can't be seen. I didn't know there was a grommet originally and was getting pretty upset as it causes a pretty big vacuum leak. I was lucky enough to get it back in without disassembling anything. I just kept pushing it in the area where it goes. Just take your time and you'll be alright.

You need a mirror to see where it would fit back in to the plenum as EWHITEVO said I poked it in there and got it in first time.

I am not sure what that tube is for. But you may not have it. My 03 E55 doesn't, and the cap on the snout is a sealed end. But my 03 C32 had that tube. The only 04 E I have wrenched on had it but at the time I didn't think to figure out what it was at the time.

I did my plugs 2 wks ago. Had 63,000 miles at 5 yrs and was better to do than wait 100,000 mikes. Some plugs looked good while others didn't. Several DIY helped with the install. Just make sure no lines are disconnected. Car idles a lot better after plug change

Does anyone have the part number for the Spark Plugs? I'm trying to do this DIY, but am having a difficult time finding the Evosport wires and the Spark Plugs.

Whats the advantage of replacing the wires if they are not faulty? There are a few different kinds of spark plugs that are popular here. If you search youll find both OEM as well as the bosch, and NGKs that are good.

Quick update. I found this. I'm going to put this back in and see what happens after I take it for a spin. Maybe it won't spray out.
Edit: this is an evap hose. It threw my cel a couple weeks ago but never did the oil spray during that time :/
