Good Auto Transport Service?

Has anyone found or had experience with a good auto transport service? Seems there's quite a few crooks in that business and alot of brokers who make you think they're the ones hauling your car when in fact they are using a 3rd party independent truck and trailer. I've heard alot of horror stories with a setup like this. Some people even said it took over a month to get their car delivered after it was picked up.

Looking to haul an E55 and Ferrari 360 from Redwood City, CA to Austin, TX.

Any ideas or recommendations? Cost is important but reliability and not coming home to a burnt clutch in the Ferrari is more important.

I think Horseless Carriage has been touted as being very good, though I've never used them. I've used Schilli Specialized with good results.

Passport by FedEx, Horseless Carriage, and I have personally used Reliable Carriers. I feel I had exceptional service, and had no damage. It cost me $1610 to ship a very slammed Bimmer from Oakland to Chicago, enclosed transport, with a lift gate. I would insist on a truck with a lift gate to move the Ferrari since it minimizes the risk of slipping the clutch up ramps. Also, most of those carriers specialize in high end vehicles.

Or, if you fly me out, I will drive it(gently, of course) to your destination.

You're not going to want to use a broker to ship your car. A few pallets, a truckload, but not a car. Either way, check their insurance and their MC authority.

I've used Intercity Lines...great specialty auto transport service.

Any company designated by Porsche NA to move Carrera GTs must know their craft!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! A broker quoted me $1000 to move both cars earlier today... Definitely going to not go with them at this point. That price alone makes me super nervous as to the care they're going to take with these cars.

Yep- I already submitted a quote request to each of the ones you all suggested. Judging by the pictures on their website(s), they are definitely the real deal and don't play around when it comes to transporting cars.

Does anyone know of any open trailer options that would be able to cater to the 360 safely? My E55 I'm not really all that worried about since the car can be raised via airmatic very easily and no clutch to deal with. The 360, on the other hand, is not mine so I'm trying to be very careful with it.

The problem with open transports would be that most any would have significant ramps that would be used to load the cars, unless you find a small carrier with a dually pickup that has like a 3 car trailer that is as low as a boat trailer. I personally would go with an enclosed with a liftgate if you don't want to worry about a clutch replacement. Either way you go, make sure the carrier has adequate insurance for the cars.

I second the Fed Ex Custom Critical. They shipped my E63 from Chicago to Boston for a very competitive price, quickly and professionally. For a car that isn't one of a kind they are more than sufficient to treat it properly.

They seem to have a good special running right now, $1500 coast to coast. By the way, how do you know their the designated company by Porsche NA? Is it on their website somewhere? I couldn't find it

It used to be in thier advertising. As a member of a Porsche I remember hearing lots of talk about it as well.

I used Intercity 2 years ago to transport a car from Seattle to Ohio. Great service and very attentive to details. I've also heard good things about Passport (FedEx).

I personally would never any car I cared about on an open transporter for a long haul like that. Esp. D.A.S. who I've also heard horror stories about.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up to avoid this company like the plague. They were super nice on my initial phone call, but once I told her that I need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, she accused me of using a different broker and was extremely unprofessional.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Sorry, no driving the 360!

Car already has super low miles and is a good weather car only.

What a drive though...1800 miles of pure sex.

I used Cascade Vehicle Shipping to ship my car from San Fran to NJ. They used an enclosed trailer and kept me posted the entire trip of their progress across the country. The price was much cheaper than HC and Fedex.

Whatever you do, do not use National Transport out of Florida. They are not to be trusted with your vehicle.
