Finally saw & heard R63AMG
An R-class Mercedes drove by earlier today, with an exhaust note vaguely familiar.
As it roared past, the badge above the quad exhaust said: "R63"
507hp. 4-wheel drive. Minivan room and comfort. Wicked...
Has anyone else seen one?

I haven't heard of it before, but just looked it up on edmunds, and good grief are the brakes ginormous on that thing!!! 15.4 inch rotors up front and 14.4 inch rotors in the rear

E63 AMG
Funny thing is a lot of those R63's must be around DC. Cause I have seen like 5 or 6 of them around here in the last couple years. Also one shop I goto has 2 of them.

I prefer the E AMG wagon the the R63 but it is a unique machine.
I am not surprised that there are only 30 in the country as the R is somewhat rare to begin with and most R buyers are probably not AMG buyers.
The AWD is a plus but if I needed AWD in an AMG I would go for a G, GL, or ML instead but that's me.

So something just dawned on me...we have the R AMG because AMG committed to make an AMG out of every model in their line many years back.

Unless you have more than 3 kids, a R63 or R in general is just so old school for me.
I rather pick up a ML63 and be able to take it up to the mountain and go boarding-

i had an R500 for two years, that was a great car. if you just need a little more cargo space, the e63 estate is the way to go. if you have to haul 6 people around in comfort, the r63 wins hands down.

I don't know about the R63 but a friend of mine has the R350 and has had nothing but problems with it. I don't know if its just his bad luck, but just about everything electronic in that car has gone wrong at one point or another, from the trunk to the power folding mirrors.

I have personally seen 4. And driven 1. On a track. Surprisingly, they handle pretty well. Compared to the ML, they are low-slung, long, and haul a**. The standard all wheel drive reins the behemouth in very well, and like the ML, they have a true killer exhaust note. I would take one of them over an ML63 any day.

Personally, I have a R500 which is pretty rare to see around GA. It has been an awesome car, my wife loves it. Plenty of power at 305HP, I can only imagine what an R63 power is like. 
The only issue I had was the Airmatic pump which was replaced and no other issues since.

Doesn't the R only seat six...? The GL63 and GLK63 won't happen, and the R63 is discontinued, but you can probably get them all on special order or something. however the GL isn't going to happen because AMG said they only have room for 2 AMG SUVs in the lineup, there's no need for more.
