Either way, I don't want to derail this thread. Honestly, 82mm isn't very interesting to me; whereas a 95mm one would. I'm sure the 82mm gives great gains over the "80"mm one we now play with but I want better bang for anything close to that price point.

Let me get this straight, are you saying that the 6.0L Biturbo V12 Throttle body measures 82mm and is interchangable with the 55K one?

You do need to change the Supercharger inlet snout and your airbox. You're going to have to do something in order to get a bigger TB......

No Zod, I apologize. I wasn't trying to argue, I was just try to learn. As you say, if VRP releases an 82mm TB for $750 then I'm sure that everyone will be happy. I wasn't trying to undermine VRP's process, since honestly I want MORE. For as long as I've been here I have challenged the pricing, etc. of many things but note that I have NEVER sold a thing. My intent is not to "copy" and sell cheaper. It is to have an educated forum. Just like how everyone found out that an 80mm TB could be had by purchasing their own MB parts and all of a sudden the price dumped from $3500 to under $2k. I understand that VRP would prefer to sell at a premium, since they are putting the time in to develop the product but that does not change the quest of the enthusiast for answers.
I'll leave this thread now and again I had no intentions of derailing VRUS' work. I've just noticed over the years that loyalty is a relative word.

lets just hope this TB comes out soon!
do u guys think that an 82mm TB would make a lot more power than the 80mm TB?
i heard the the power gains between the two would be minimal. would anyone have any info or theories on this?

If that is the case, then you would actually be getting an additional 4mm and not just 2mm. I asked ages ago about getting a larger TB and many said that the current size is plenty. I still believe the bigger the better, since it will reduce the pressure before the SC helping to add more to the output with perhaps minimal heat gain.

You gotta consider money and source, too. VRUS has been playing with these TBs for YEARS now. If you can get one for under $1K, don't blink.

any idea on the part numbers for the actual 80mm ones and the 78mm ones?
if going that route, i may as well make sure i get the 80mm.
im still waiting for the 82mm and praying it will fit the cf box but im feeling the need for more HP!

Contact VRP and see whatup. One thing though, you may need to bore the CF box mouth or make a different adapter.

$750 for the part is a great price..... but what else do you have to do? A new airbox? From Renntech? 3k right there..... Don't know what else needs to be modified and how much it would cost.... plus install for the throttle body ain't cheap either.... don't feel like paying 20-30% of the car's worth for 30 hp or 40 or whatever we would get with the 82mm. I still have the oem airbox, don't know if that could be modified without breaking it to accommodate the new 82mm throttle body also..... and what else has to be modified and is it possible without buying renntech parts (which are astronomically high in my opinion).... I talked to someone associated with renntech, and it seemed like the whole setup, done right, would be about 6k? So let's say I got the 82mm from vrp..... what is everything else that has to be done to make it work? Sorry, just don't know that much about what is all involved. Basically, I'm thinking if any of you do want to upgrade to the 82mm, and have the 80mm, I'll buy your used 80mm (or 78 or whatever) off of you because it seems like that one is much more (plug and play).... not sure tho. Any input is appreciated.

As it stands the current 80mm tb comes with a different Y pipe & intake and this new 82mm tb does not, all you have is the tb, and the rest will have to be customised to fit, thus leaving the question…is it worth it, if you factor in the install charges also.
Vic did mention one cool thing about the 82mm tb and that is that the electronics are interchangeable,
Meaning you can take them out and fit them onto a bigger TB (non MB)….but what about the rest of the stuff?
Let’s wait and see what Vic has to offer
hope that helps some of you out

Thanks.... yeah, it seems like the waiting game right now..... and, of course, I'd luv to see whats up with the dual throttle body setup Vadim is trying to put together and what the cost would be compared to the 82mm or the 78mm.... I just hate waiting
The 80mm tb consists of a few parts namely 80mm tb, Y pipe, supercharger intake & gaskets. The tb needs re-wiring before it is usable. (These are all AMG parts)
