So on the M275 V12's, there's only 1 TB?

Just had a chance to look a lot closer at it..... Yeah... I quoted myself..... FYI, I'm using less than stellar or accurate measuring here (bout 3 different rulers), so let me be absolutely sure before I'm positive it's 82mm..... it appears to be bigger than 78mm, but not certain.... hard to differentiate between a couple of mm.... still might be the "80mm" version...... but definitely, definitely not 74mm....

Just wanted to post a followup on this...

We are *NOT* using the throttle bodies that some of you are talking about. This TB has a thicker 2.5mm shell and will allow for at least 86mm if bored out. If you go back and read my first post you will see that I say:

- The throttle plate is 82mm
- The Inner diameter of the opening is 84mm

I am not sure how big those MB TBs are but if that is what some of you are looking at, check the throttle plate diameter and see if it is 82mm.

Here are some pics of what I put together.

Here is the 3/8" aluminum plate that we designed.. In this picture it is just press fit onto the inlet to check for alignment.

Here is the inlet after the adapter has been welded on, and we have ported the inlet so it is port matched to the TB.

Here is a close-up shot...

And finally, these are the main components as they are provided with the kit.

The reason I havent posted too much about it is because I have been testing a bunch of different combinations.

You don't provide a y-pipe? So the stock one is to be used?

I am making a custom Y-pipe for it. Stock one is too small.

Zod- No I didn't try the Y pipe. My intake consists of a sinlgle 3.5" aluminum pipe to a cone flter behind a headlight. The y-pipe I'm asking about is not for my car.

Will the y pipe be sold seperately to those who already have 82mm TB's?

Since they kinda go together in the overall design perhaps the inlet adapter plate and the y-pipe sold as a pair to those who have an 82mm TB

Will the car be OK to run without an ECU tune after installation of the TB? Or is that a requirement?

Just recently I went from a 80 to 82mm throttle body and I saw a leaner reading of .2-.3. I would assume going from stock to 82mm you would definitely see leaner readings.

Chances are that your tune is towards the richer side since you dynode tuned on the same day as I. With the conditions we had I believe LET leaned more towards the safer side of AFR's which would be richer. If I were you, install the 82mm TB and have your car dynode and make sure the operator keeps his eyes glued to AFR reading. Me personally, I would definitely get it re-tuned. JMO.

A/F ratios don't mean squat if you aren't watching the timing. Be careful if the tune is too agressive that way. You will think you are safe but the car will not pull enough timing in time and you will POWAWOW!!

Did you do before/after dynos to compare?

Yes, if you look at the thread that I started "my experience with 2 different tuners" you'll find runs with my 82mm and without. You have to remember, my run shown with the 82mm TB was the 18th run of the day..... Even then it shows roughly a 20 rwhp gain up top.

It is really a lot more than 2mm gain between 80 and 82mm. Throttle plate and flow area is what counts.

Stock plate 74mm, 80mm tb is really 78mm plate but the 82mm TB is 82mm.. Then calculate the flow gain from a 74 to 78mm and then a 78 to 82mm and % is even higher than the 4mm upgrade suggest.. Confusing?

I think that is why, before we thought that 82mm TB are way too expensive, now we are getting more details that it is possible to get them cheaper, need to do some mods to fit it, but it is possible.
