Front brake rotors and pads: Where to Buy?
Am planning on doing my front brakes this weekend and was curious if anyone knew where I could get a good deal on front brakes (rotors and pads). Tougher to find them for the E55 than my old CLK430. I don't mind using OEM rotors, but I would prefer an aftermarket low dust pad. Stealership is asking $140/rotor and I have seen Zimmermans selling for $120/rotor on the net (not eBay). Living in LA, would think there would be plenty of local places that would carry them. Any guidance is appreciated.

Do you want to upgrade or just replace?
If upgrade, get the EVOsport Rotors and aftermarket pads. There is another thread open now on the best pads. In summary, it looks like the EBC pads are good for noise (after break in) and dust. There is debate over which pad performs the best, but i am assuming you want low dust more than anything.
If not upgrading, there was a company that sold cross drilled rotors for our cars at a very reasonable rate. PM Benzorama and see if he can help.

I personally like my Akebonos. The friction coefficient is high, so they perform well. They also make zero dust, I can go for weeks without washing my car and the wheels are cleaner than the rest of it.
Only problem is I keep getting this random sqeaking in reverse from the rear wheels every few months, and I did an extensive bedding run over the 2 days after I put them in, so it can't be that. When they start squeaking again, I have to go slather on more anti-squeal paste and then it goes away for awhile. But the pads perform VERY nicely, and I love the lack of dust.

I have some front rotors that only have about 1500 mile on them that I might be willing to part with if you're interested. I recently went with Evosport rotors and don't really have a need for them.

If you don't buy them, I might be interested. I live in Upland. Am going to go with EBC red or Akebono, though it sounds like the latter is very low dust and a decent Cf. Anybody know where they can be purchased in the LA area?

When I get home I'll take some pictures and post them up. I was thinking $150 plus shipping for the fronts.
I'm from San Jose and I'll be visiting LA in the next few weeks visiting in-laws. If you decide you want to buy them let me know and I could bring them up and save you the shipping.
I believe you should get way more then 13k on the life of the rotors. I'm sure someone will chime in on this and give you a better approximation.

I just ordered my EBC red and ready to do the install..
Basically for my info,
1. I dont have to disconnect the battery.
2. Pop the hood and disconnect the SBC.
3. (Should/Do I need to) Place my key fob far from the car and close all the doors?
Any other tips, and what brand of brake fluid are you using or is any Dot 4 ok to use?

I ended up buying at set of rotors from the dealer for $140/apiece and I used a set of EBC red pads. The install was a breeze and the brakes are working great. Dusting seems considerably less as compared to the OEMs. Took about 2 hours and the toughest part was breaking loose the rotors from the hubs as they were rusted on. A dead blow hammer was a Godsend! Total cost to replace everything was $439.
