Everybody likes stuff, thats a no brainer. However, most people with that kind of income are aware that when you earn that much, you tend to buy expensive things, that come with expensive monthly payments. They therefore buy slightly less than they can afford, and save enough money to prevent having to sell off the family jewels (literally).


We are not in the crapper because of investment banks. Its not that simple, nor should all the blame be placed on their shoulders.

What you are saying is much easier said than done. I think most people were taught at a young age to save for a rainy day. Keep in mind that less than 9 months ago gas prices were nearly $5.00 a gallon, I know of people that were dipping into their savings accounts just to put fuel into their cars, others were maxing out their credit cards just to put fuel into their cars to get to and from their jobs. These are unforeseen expenses that affected the finances of millions of people. Add on top of that other rising energy costs such as electricity and natural gas prices which spiked last year. People were spending their savings just to make ends meet. The increase in gas, diesel and other energy cost resulted in a sudden increase in the prices of everything in stores, food and produce prices skyrocked Q3 & Q4 (trust me, I own a trucking company and I passed on hundreds of thousands of dollars last year in fuel surcharges and those eventually get passed onto the end customer/consumer). Again, people had to either dip into their savings or use credit just to survive. Now factor in all of the households that survived on 2 incomes but now one or both people are unemployed. It does not take long to exhaust a savings, even for the few people that thought they had 12 months of cushion in a savings account and lost their job last May would be suprised to find that their 12 month nest egg would would probable only last them about 8 months.

The point I am making is no matter how well you plan there are going to be unexpected hurdles, things that are out of your control....***** happens, so don't be so quick to point fingers, it could happen to any one of us at any time for any reason.

Wow, there are alot of MB's on that auction list, is that all for 1 day?

Josh, like I mentioned in my PM to you, the banks, manufacturers and auctions are flooded with repos and lease turn-ins, the last thing they want is another car they have to auction. It is in their best interest to work with you. This list proves my point.

I think the problem is that the people who are critical of juicee are venting their concerns....as taxpayers who are sick and tired of bailing people/companies out of financial messes that resulted from poor planning/irresponsible behavior. What those critics fail to realize is that the members here are giving of their own volution. No one is putting a gun to anyone's head or forcing all members to bear a burden. I think that people have made their point but taking it any further isn't constructive to original intent of this thread. Let us not digress into name calling. I think if everyone had a crystal ball they wouldn't have made some of the financial mistakes that we have made in the past (myself included).

yes that is one day and it is a typical day at an auction in riverside. MB of america brings a lot of cars to riverside... (the total for the day is nearly 2,000 cars, MB is a small portion of it)

California, Texas, Florida & New York (NJ too) ; are all big auctions for Merc's

ironically look where the money is at ... people in those area's per capita can afford to buy merc's more than folks in midwest...

The guys coming on here judging and knocking Josh, (hell even JRCart too for that matter) wait until you are in their shoes and then walk a mile in them.

People are different, JRCart may be a little rough at times, but he is pretty cool. Even I misunderstood his pop humor at times. Now on Josh, he ran into a bad patch and is trying to make it right and keep some dignity intact.

Damn, is it not embarrassing enough the man is putting up personal items for sale and disclosed his situation on a public forum? Even further, he said he would pay the money back, with interest. He was not looking for a hand out, more like a hand up. It's not like he is out on an island or smoking trees with the money.

I acknowledge, and agree with your sentiment. I just think its hard to justify that argument for someone who grosses $340,000 per year. Thats $17,000 per month net.

Yes, in fact, I am. The same thing that happened to them happened to Josh. A liquidity crisis, sparked by a temporary drop in revenue. It's the same effin' thing.

Could GM, Ford, and Chrysler survive without car sales for a year? NO. They didn't even make it 3 months before going for a massive government bailout. Did Countrywide financial survive when the real estate market crashed, and nobody wanted mortgages anymore? NO. They had to sell out on the cheap. You get where I'm going with this?

None of the entire Fortune 500 could survive for a year with ZERO revenue. That's been made abundantly clear over the past few months. They can't even survive for a year with a 20%-40% DROP in revenue, let alone ZERO revenue. And yet people are here chiding this guy for not having the ability to survive indefinitely with no income. WTF? That's not the real world people.

hmmm, $340k, so you make nearly 3 times less a year than I do, I'm really impressed...trust me when I say it can all be gone in an instant, I've seen it happen twice in my life, once due to a brain injury due to a car accident and once due to a greedy step mother (long story), in both cases the people had millions of dollars, but now their net worth is zero. Sure, guys like you and I have little or no debt and it's easier for us to build up hefty savings accounts, but I have seen people with more money than you or I loose everything. You can not plan for every possible scenerio. You could get diagnosed with a rare form cancer tomorrow, your insurance would most likely run out and then you would have to rely on your savings, I don't care if you have $5,000,000 liquid cash sitting in various accounts, $5m won't last long when you are sitting in a hospital racking up $25k a week in hospital bills will it? Don't be so quick to judge until you have all the facts.

Here are some thoughts.

Consumer spending: good economy.

Consumer not spending: bad economy.

Juicee spending (what I would make in 6 years) money on a car: doing his part to keep the economy strong.

People judging juicee for his bad news acting like they are better than he is because they are more financially responsible, but expect him (and everyone else) to be as good with money as they are: (ironic) priceless.

Wow!!!!! i just read every thread on your situation and i am soooo glad to hear that it was all worked out. It is amazing how ones life could change overnight. It is good to know that there are still good honest friends out there to help out when a fellow friend is in need. Juicee63 congrats on saving the car and i wish you all the best and hats off to this entire board for being good friends. And to the other d-bags..........i hope you never get in a situation where you need your friends to make you feel better, kicking someone when they are down is uncalled for.

I was not attempting to brag, only point out the fact that no matter how much money a person makes, me included, nobody is 100% protected financially from the curve ***** life can throw at you. I tried to make that clear in my post, sorry if it came across differently.
