Regular Maintenance
I'm taking my car in for service this week because my brakes are squeaking. Is there anything I should have the dealers check while they're at it? My service advisor told me to make a list and she'll make sure everything gets looked at.
Also, I notice this strange smell after I push the car really hard. It only lasts a few seconds then goes away. Have any of you guys experienced this? Could I possibly have a leak somewhere?
Your input is appreciated. Thanks, guys!

Most likely catalytic converters.
If you are under warranty, good idea to bring up the issue as they are VERY expensive.
Make sure you don't use the words "push it hard" etc. Just "had to accelerate into busy traffic quickly and noticed a strong smell"
I know I know....stupid games, but you gotta play um at the stealer.
Good luck

The only other issue I'm having is brake squeal, but it may be time for replacements.

Updating the ECU and TCU is very very very very very very (keep inserting the word very for the next two pages) very important to the E63 and other 63 variants. Tell your service advisor you would like to make sure you have the latest up-to-date software versions on both units. For some reason, many dealers don't automatically update the software. But there has been at least 3 software revisions/updates to the ECU and one (that I know of) to the TCU. By the way, I'm not saying that you have the old software in your car, but it's always good to make sure you have the latest one.
Also, don't let the dealership wash your car. They use the same towels that they clean the MLs with
I've seen these towels collect so much dirt, dust, mud, and other crap from the MLs that if used on your car will not only scratch it, but ruin it.

Oh yeah no wash, the dealership figures that out themselves since my car is too low to the ground, so it will not go into the drive through car wash.

Does the dealer charge for upgrading the software or is that included under warranty?

Car is at FJ for service right now. I got a new C class as a loner and it's my first time driving one. I was going up a hill and pushed the gas pedal til I hit redline. I looked over at my speedometer and I was only going 40mph. ![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)

No, I am having them check the car for that weird smell and also to check my brakes cause they are squealing. I probably have to replace the pads soon, but I want to make sure the discs aren't down to their miniumum thickness.

Don't worry about the smell it is normal.
For example after driving a car that has a manual transmission you can always smell the clutch when you step out, same is the case here except that smell comes from the auto tranny.
For the brake squeal they will put some lubrication compound on the pads.

A Car
I am assuming you have the information on the TSB - Technical Service Bulletin - about squeeling brakes on E63s? If not it should be easy to find under the W211 AMG forum by doing a search.

The TSB won't help her. MBUSA will change the brakes/rotors only within the first 12,000 miles or one year since the in-service date of the car. After that, they will not do it unless whoever owned the car before have complained about the brakes before the 12,000 miles mark and the issue was still not resolved. Another exception is if the dealer is willing to dip into their good will funds to change the brakes; in that case, they will use the TSB to order the new pads accordingly, but lately very few has been willing to do so. Most of them rely on MBUSA to pay the bill, and since MBUSA has the 12,000 mile limit, dealers won't change them.
LADY_AMG, it's always worth it to try anyways.... here is the DTB: P-B-42.10/76a. It came out in July 07 for the rear brakes and then later revised (in December) to include the fronts as well.
Good luck......
