What sounds better?

i changed the straight pipes from my resonator delete to the VRP X pipe.
i dont have any runs under load but just vids of revving at idle.

i find the straight pipes to have more of a growl with a bit of a muscle car sound. the x pipe seems to tone down the growl and tighten up the sound.

other mods on the car include kleeman k2 and vrp cf box and intake tubes.

anyways what do u guys think sounds better?

Thanks for posting the comparison vids.

The straight pipes sound more evil IMO. I run straight pipes on my beast and I like the sound better.

I wanted to know the same about the cats.

I actually prefer the sound with the X-Pipe. Fits the car more.

ya the x pipe sounds suits the car better. it sounds like a european car now instead of like a domestic. i do miss a bit of the growl that the straight pipes gave but the x pipe makes the car sound as it should. ill get some vids of a drive by once the weather gets better.

i still have the secondary cats. im thinking to do get that VRP mid section once some details are released for the fitment for people with the kleeman headers and downpipe. how would that help my set up? a bit more power and louder sound?

Straight pipes sound mean, but prefer the X Pipe

Have you got a pic of the x-pipe installed? My system is setup the same as yours, with Kleemann headers, airbox etc, front cat delete and resonator delete and would be very interested in trying the x-pipe too

Would be great if you could take some pics next time - cheers

I bought the Evosport resonator delete pipes, which according to the exhaust shop that installed them were a poor fit - the guy said I probably would have been better off just getting them to fabricate the pipe.

I had trouble finding a local dyno in the UK that would suit the E55 - finally found one, and it took them 5 attempts, (ignoring my instructions copied from this forum) with the car strapped to the rollers and two guys sitting in the boot to get a consistent reading. By that time the car was sooo hot it only showed 509 bhp -

No question about it, the X-pipe is was better,,

tighter, and more refined,, more euro sounding.. more midtones in the sound.. balanced,

great job sounds good

Hey guys? Deleting the front cat does what to the sound? I've already deleted the resonator and replaced with straights.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a renntech Stage 3 - ECU upgrade, crankshaft pulley, SS headers. Don't know the benefit of going with Renntech's SS sports muffler. Any opinion?

Had traight pipes on my SLK55 for a while but switched over to x-pipe for a more refined sound. Even though it's not quite as loud, x-pipe sounds more exotic. Straight pipe sounds like a tracter at idle.
X-pipe is the way to go.
