No one can say our cars are not tough...
We could not believe what we saw a E500 with E55 mufflers and wheels totaled and head first into a Toyota Tundra with a trail of devistation in its path. So, from what the police told us the driver jumped out the passenger side and ran away, I guess he was drunk. The E500 smashed into a Nissan Versa, smashed a Toyota Tacoma and through the truck onto the curb, hit a Civic at which time the Benz lost its driver side, wheel, caliper, suspension etc, then hit a Corolla, Saturn, some old Buick the tundra and another car.
I am writing this on this forum just to show everyone how strong our cars actually are. The cops said the Mercedes was going around 90mph on the wrong side of the road, why, I have no idea. The pics will show you what this car can tolerate.

Hope no one was hurt and for sure the passenger cell of a Benz built in the last 5 years is as safe as it gets in a high speed crash...

Oh man, talk about a tragic wreck that leads to several issues, that E class kept the cabin very safe despite the insane impact. I don't see the friendship lasting either but I must say when you know you own a high powered car (not necessarily the case for a E500 but still it moves decently); something like an E55 or other performance oriented models, I personally would think twice about handing the keys to someone you know that most likely don't have the experience, can't handle the power and especially being prone for making bad decisions that can lead to things like this.
We all try to instill goodwill and good judgment towards our friends as we always aim to help them but we always must think about both sides. Unfortunately, the guy who lent his friend his car now has to think about the side he never wanted to think about. Personally, if I know a friend of mine wants to drive my modded car and I know more than well he/she can't handle the power I'm not going to hand the keys over. I will though ask them if they'll settle for being a passenger.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

In fact, the MB looks worse than all the others.
But for sure, MBs are pretty safe cars. It's interesting that MB never really marketed this like Volvo did. And over history MB has come out with more safety innovations than Volvo.

Besides, safety is something that everyone can appreciate.
If I knew this was going to happen when I got me E63 I would have gotten the wagon.

Volvo still had the cool add in 1986 about the new intercooled turbo station wagon. It showed a red wagon and said "Until Ferrari builds a station wagon, this is it".

The Tacoma being thrown onto the curb was a sight to see in person, I don't know too many cars that can actually do that and still keep moving and destroy 5 more cars let alone protect the driver enough that he can get out and run away.
It does not look like it in the pics but a number of the cars the Benz hit have also been totaled. When I have my family in my car I want to know that I am protected from an accident and this Benz goes to show that we are.
