I agree with Mikey, the car either has Euro launch control (which I would think he would have mentioned as a mod) or he is spraying out of the hole. The previous best 60' for an M5 was 1.781...and no other M5 has cut under a 1.8.

The guy claims the car only made 435rwhp off nitrous. I believe Ranger's car made 470-480rwhp for comparisons sake. I also believe that Ranger sprayed at around the 1/8 mile mark (3rd gear).

I dont think that M5 ran a 1.60 60' N/A, he had to be spraying. Those things are NOT good off the line because of the anemic torque ratings. Someone who isn't banned on m5board should go and ask for details.

Ahmad I could ask him if you'd like....I made a post. Mike is real cool though and seems to know his stuff. Let me know what question you would like me to ask.

Ok cool. Since I'm permabanned, can you ask him when he was spraying and if it was a progressive shot and if he has euro launch control. Thanks!

Pulled this from the M5 board:

Well we had a great day today at the track.. Even though it was HOT as hell we squeezed out a 10.90 pass mid day today.. 1st pass of the day was an 11.54.. We worked our way down to 11.09 as we setup the Nitrous Controller.. by the 5th pass we reached our goal of 10's with a 10.90@127.38.. There is definetely more left in it on a cooler day just as it sits on a 150shot.. The car ran flawless all day long cutting a best 60ft time of 1.60.. We just got back from the track so I wont post Videos tonight but tomorrow ill have videos posted of 2-3 of the runs..

The car made a best of 584whp last night on the dyno..

Here are 2 Videos.. ( Click HD to Watch in High Def )

and +1000000000, I prefer the latter options you stated over the spray anyday. Not to mention the safety and consistency factor. N2O can get pretty expensive getting that bottle refilled. IIRC ASR Engineering supposedly got a Twin Turbo Kit lined up for the E60 M5. V10 TT sounds great, but why not just get a V12 TT from the darkside and strap the VRP kit.

Personally! I am not a NOS fan.....I believe you could hit 10.9 with DR, NOS and Launch Control. There is a guy in DFW with the stroker motor from Dinan. I think he is in the high 11's.....To bad (US only) you can only do launch control 3 times before voiding your drivetrain warranty.....Not cool

That's actually completely untrue.

And besides, after doing it once, I don't know why anyone would want to use the US LC.

Really? Please teach me the truth!!!

You can get a de-tune LC on the GTR which allows you to launch more than once but otherwise you can only do it 1 time before voiding some warranties.... I was told the de-tune was available for the M5/M6 as well. Basically an RPM decrease on LC mode......

ALSO: I am not sure if this was mentioned but is the M5 at full weight? If so, imagine it on a diet!!!

Exactly- there is only 1 type of US LC and it can be used over and over for slower launches (1500 rpm) than feathering the throttle.

I am confused....were you talking about the GT-R's launch control or the M5's launch control when you made your previous comment?

I was also speaking about the GTR....

I was talking about both cars how you can get the RPM decrease and you will be fine after that BUT
A local dealer told me if you do it more than 3 times, it voids your tranny warranty.

If this is false, please tell me the truth guys. I have verified this with MANY M5 owners......

TO BE HONEST, THIS IS THE ONLY REASON I AM NOT DRIVING AN M5!

I seem to recall that whole launch control/warranty issue with the E46 M3 SMG when it first came out. I don't recall hearing that for the E60 M5.

... You can not void your warranty for using the US LC on an E60 or E63 M series in the US. Its so detuned that it causes less wear on the tranny than a standard mash and go execution from a dig in those cars.

In fact, using it will net you slower launch times than just learning how to feather and mash.

Interesting! I understand what your saying, I was just told again by an ex-BMW service Advisor that 3 times the charm. But hey, if you dealer says different, I would let him service your car.

For you M5 owners: Do us a favor and call you dealer and ask them if there is a limit for the LC....3 times for example!

I used my LC frequently when I had my M3, sometimes 4-5 times in a day. Car went to the dealer for minor fixes, No issues with warranty at all.

This guy deserves mucho props IMO. I love using spray!! 1.6 60 foot is insane! They might have done some weight reduction too. That helps 60 foots quite a bit.

There's no limit, I've already checked on this but as Vic said, it's worthless over here. Euro launch control is much more aggressive and as far as I know they are allowed to use it as much as they want to. This transmission will take a lot of hard driving without complaint. To be honest, I go through tires enough as is even with the lackadaisical launches

+1000000

We actually used it about 12 times at Atco when the TTM M6 went 11.80. (That was one of the days Ahmad broke an axle, among many other times!LOL)

The clutch packs were stinking like I've never smelled before but after an hour cool down after the last run we drove home at 100mph+.

Voiding the warranty after 3 uses of LC? I think not.

Well guys! This is what I'm thinking. I think this 3 times thingy is a DFW BMW myth. We have these HUGE BMW dealers in Dallas, Classic BMW,
360 lifts for example....I have known this as a fact since the release of the E60. I am shocked, I totally believe that it is a dealer per dealer thing.....Hey, more power to you guys using it, I love it!!! Sorry for arguing, my bubble is only aloud 3 LC's!!! NOT COOL

Back to main topic: That is super fast for a heavy M5, Full interior?
