So the more I think about an icebox in the trunk, and a split cooling system, the more I get back into physics.
Cooling is the act of drawing out and absorbing heat. Heat is energy.
On a 90* degree day, if the Supercharger discharge temp @ 14psi is 240 degrees (complete guess PV=nRT) and water passing through the intercooler is 30*, depending on the flow and efficiency of the intercooler core it is highly unlikely that the water returning to the heat exchanger or ice box will be over (or close to) 90 degrees.
If that is the case, then running the coolant/water through the heat exchanger at 90* is further heating the fluid before returning to the ice tank.
I understand the need for the heat exchanger for day to day use, but actually think it's hurting the "ice" effect with a trunk reservoir.
Also, with my nitrous setup, injecting air at a -200* will definitely aid in cooling, although it won't create more oxygen (short of what is being injected)...
Open to thoughts, and would love to see datalogs of ambient inlet and outlet air temp, as well as inlet and outlet intercooler and/or heat exchanger temps...
I did a quick search and there is no doubt chiro's kit worked-just wondering if I should bypass the H/E on the ice circuit. A couple of T fittings with ball valves and it can be set to kill or to cruise.

yes, i do believe the h/e will actually heat up the water when running with ice in the reservoir. however, since the ice lasts for such a short time (one run at most) it wasn't worth it to me to create a bypass in the system.

A few years ago (8?-10?) I used this on a supercharged fox body and was able to get sub ambient temps, even without ice in the box. I know I was skeptic with the size of the cores-both H/E and I/C...but how about finding a more efficient intercooler core that will fit within the current housing? It's no SLR cooler, but could be MUCH more affordable and almost as effective...
Surely the cm30 and code3/spearco/any aftermarket heat exchanger will transfer better than stock OR that little piece Vortech shipped out.
