Thinking about doing E63 resonator delete
Hey guys,
Thinking of deleting the resonator on my E63. To those who have done it, any regrets or are you generally happy with it? Also, does anyone know the outside diameter of the pipes entering and exiting the pipes? Thanks in advance.

Thanks... Huge help and I think I'll get a Magnaflow x-pipe.

FYI
as per hamann69 the universal magnaflow 3" X pipe does not fit on a e55 when you are trying to put it in place of the resonator (i know you have a E63)

In all honesty, after removing mine I don't see any possible way it would be a restriction, OR an area for flow improvement. Its a pair of straight through perforated pipes with a crossover in the center. The diameter and flow are never reduced, and the straight through design is the same as with a pipe...only with split pipes you loose the crossover effect.
I would be willing to bet that the stock silencer assembly will outflow a single 2.75-3" pipe per side.

I paid $80 for the resonator delete and straight pipe. Might do x-pipe later. I love the way the car sounds and it's still quiet at idle.

Out Of Control!!
Just straight pipe it for now. I LOVE the sound of the 63 with that mod.
I don't think you get gains from it, but just for the sake of argument the resonator may be straight throughish but all the cross holes cause major turbulence which equals restriction (at times).

Okay, you always know what you're talking about. I'll go without the X-pipe for now... Thanks.

should be fine as long as you do an X-pipe,, sounds way better,, and more refined.. more euro.. balances out the exhaust banks too better

Just got the resonators deleted and installed Magnaflow x-pipe by Serge at Hyevon Motors yesterday. Car should've came this way from the factory! I kinda want it to be a little louder though. Maybe deleting the secondary cats in the future.

I got the resonator removed and had it replaced with 3" SS straight pipes. It sounds very nice. It has a deeper rumble. I haven't heard and E63 with xpipe yet, but maybe someone can post a vid so I hear the difference. Xpipe may then be an option.

I will post a vid sometime next week.
