HELP - Need winter tires for 02 E55 that I can swap to my 03 E55
I know they are different tire sizes (the 03 E55's are smaller) BUT can i use smaller ones now and swap them to the 03 for next winter.
Thanks.

So you will probably delegate the W210 to snow duty. With the W210 you can use some, key word here is 'some' 17 inch wheels, most 17" AMG alloys clear the front calipers. The wheels should be tested fitted prior to mounting tires to save you some hassle. If you go with 18 inch wheels I would go same size all around - 245/40/18 and you can even use a narrower tire which is better for snow. These sizes work:
235/40/18 front/all
265/35/18 rear

What about just the tires -- that is, can I just get 18 inch tires, mount them to my w210 amg wheels and then swap them over the the w211 wheels next winter?
Thanks
W210 - 275/35/18
W211 - 265/35/18
Buy the smaller (265/35/18) tires for the rear - it is an optionable E-Class size. Plus there are not many 275 width winter tires on the market.
Both the Michelin Pilot Alpin and the Dunlop Winter Sport M2 come in 245 & 265 widths.
If you need them hurry - I was told that winter tires are only pressed once per season and when stock is depleted that is it for until the next year.
I have the age-old dilemma of not wanting to give up too much dry/wet performance for the necessary saftey in snow.
I see you are in DC. I am in NY and we are getting hammered with snow this year.
Any suggestions or comments on the two you mentioned?

I like the look of the Blizzaks LM-22 but they may be hard to find i the 245 & 265 sizes this late in the season.
I drive my 4X4 truck in the snow, so my E55 will not see snow duty.
