Yes it is an OEM MB part.
Ahmad who made the adapter for you and what car does the bigger throttle body come off of ?

I'm going to take a different stance on the Boost-a-pump. What happens if the BAP goes out and causes the car to lean out? Adding a BAP isnt a bad idea, but with bigger injectors and a proper tune that is the best way to go IMO. Plus adding one just makes for one more thing to check if a problem should arise.

Ahmad,

What's the verdict? Guilty? lol

Made from a CNC machine. Comes off a 550, it is an OEM part

Did you have a 80mm TB before you got the 82mm TB? The stock y-pipe does not fit over the 82mm y-pipe. I am going to try the 80mm y pipe soon

The shop thats doing the CNC work is pretty backed up. We were actually going to go to the track today but it started raining, they just finished a 850whp IS300 (street car) They told me it will be made by mid/end of this week.

But in terms of fitting it on a car, it's been on my car for a few weeks now I did need a retune but it may be because I completely redesigned the intake setup to 3.5" piping and made a bigger MAF housing and totally got rid of the 55k airboxes. I gained 25whp in 40 degree hotter temps but then ran out of fuel (after I get bigger injectors put in and retune I will see the true gain). It is more difficult to fit on our cars but I worked out most of the bugs. Let me know if you wanna try. I didn't have to change any wires either

I'm actually more concerned about how it'll run. Want to make sure it won't have that "hicup" when you hammer it. Keep me posted.

My car has been running with the 82mm TB for a few weeks now. No hiccups or anything. Just hit it and go. I'm trying to rent the track tomorrow and maybe get some video to post up. Car isn't fully tuned yet though

no i hadn't, if u remove the inner plastic ( rubber ) and just keep the outer shield in the TB side i will plug on it FIT without any bolts or anything that holds it.

I have both in my hand right now, it will not fit. I did remove the rubber piece. You sure you dont have the y-pipe form the 80mm TB kit? (07+ SL55)

Strange but the wall thickness looks about the same as the stock TB but Victor stated that the 82mm wall is twice as thick and can be bored out to 100mm in his "82mm TB" thread. Do you think the wall is thick enough to bore out to 90-100mm??

Is this 82mm TB in your pic above really same one that Victor is talking about boring out to 100mm?

The 82mm TB CANNOT be bored out to 100mm or even 90mm. You might be able to bore it to 84mm or maybe even 85mm but thats pushig it. The hard part would be getting a new flap to seal properly.

ahmad,

You might want to get Accufab a call. They do custom applications and who knows, maybe they could help you out. I'm sure if you were able to give them the pinout and voltage specs for your TB setup they may be able to come up with something. Just a thought. They are big players in the TB industry.

Thanks Marcus! I already have the 82mm on my car and the elbow barely clears the firewall. I don't think I can go any bigger. Accufab definitely makes some good products though!
